Of course the chances of Russell Wilson ever playing for the Rangers or Cowboys are slim and none. Texas drafted the Seattle Seahawks starter in the Rule 5 draft Thursday, giving it the baseball rights to the superstar quarterback. Texas picked up Wilson from Colorado in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 draft. According to the Rangers, they hope to utilize Wilson’s leadership skills. Texas general manager Jon Daniels told reporters at the winter meetings that Wilson wanted to come to spring training next year in Surprise, Ariz. Wilson was drafted by Colorado in the fourth round of the 2010 draft. He played 32 games in the minors in 2010 and then played for Class A Asheville in 2011, batting .228 with three homers and 15 RBI while playing second base. He hasn’t played baseball since 2011 and has been on the restricted list, which is where he’ll remain with the Rangers.
