MustOfBeenDrunk
Those crazy guys & they even predicted the final score of 24-0 ( very close ) http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/car-dealership-on-the-hook-for-420k-in-promotion-after-seahawks-throttle-giants-121613 A Seattle-area Chevrolet dealership knows just how important insurance is -- promotion insurance, that is. The owners of Jet Chevrolet of Federal Way, Wash., had to be breathing a sigh of relief Monday morning after covering their tails and taking out an insurance policy for a special promotion this week. The insurance policy cost $7,000, which may potentially save the dealership from being on the hook for the full promotion total of $420,000 after the Seahawks thumped the Giants 23-0. (The dealership is awaiting guidance from the insurance company, according to reports.) Jet Chevrolet promised 12 people $35,000 apiece in a drawing if the Seahawks shut out the Giants on Sunday, and Seattle, being very good (and New York being very bad), did just that. "This is crazy," said Jim Johnson, one of the owners, according to ESPN. "We never expected that we'd actually be giving away the money." The original plan was to hold the promotion the week before, when the Seahawks played the 49ers. Instead, while working out legal details, the dealership bumped the promo to the following week. This time, the Seahawks faced the hapless 5-8 Giants, who have already been shut out once this season (Week 3 against the Panthers). Jet Chevrolet ran the promotion anyway, and all that's left is to draw the names of the 12 lucky fans. Johnson said 20 people bought cars during the promotion period this week, with each of them receiving 100 entries into the drawing, and another 12 people entered the drawing without buying a car (with the dealership required to open the drawing to everyone). The dealership had a scoreboard predicting the final score of Sunday's game as 24-0, Seattle. What luck.
Big John
Really $7000 they paid for insurance so the insurance company is stuck paying them. Looks like a Lloyd's of London policy.

If they PREDICTED a shutout and still held a promotion to give away nearly a half million dollars, you'd think they would have a pretty ironclad agreement with the insurance folks that they would have absolutely NO way of being on the hook. 'canes2004
All of those gimmicky contests carry insurance. From half court shots to fishing in a barrel for a new car, there are companies who will provide coverage. For the most part it's just money in the bank for the insurance company. But every once in a while, they take a hit like this.
Jackass
Wonder if the dumbasses at the insurance company know anything about football - switching the game from the 49ers to the Giants wasn't very bright.
