Guys I'm particularly interested in:

Jared Abbrederis Wisconsin WR WO01 - This guy could be Wes Welker, or just another white WR.

Davante Adams* Fresno State WR WO02 - Product of his system, or possible stud?

Jace Amaro* Texas Tech TE TE01 - Could be the next "stud" TE.

Antonio Andrews Western Kentucky RB RB01 - Has been lumped with the "likely stud" RBs on a few lists. I want to see how fast he really is.

Anthony Barr UCLA LB LB02 - I suspect he puts up insane numbers, which will nearly guarantee him of a top-5 slotting.

Odell Beckham Jr. LSU WR WO03 - Need to see a] how fast he really is and b] if he's got a little strength behind him+

Kelvin Benjamin* Florida State WR WR05 - I'm interested to see what his 40 time really is and some of the agility drills. I'm concerned he's on the Fat Mike Williams Fence

Alfred Blue LSU RB RB05 - Totally lost in the LSU RB shuffle, but I think he's got talent.

Blake Bortles* Central Florida QB QB01 - Really? 1.01? Some experts mock him here. He's going to need to shine at the Combine.

Preston Brown Louisville LB LB07 - Don't ever say I never gave y'all anything. He'll test well and can be a stud. Here's your Kiko Alonso of 2014.

Martavis Bryant* Clemson WR WO08 - Some think he's too stiff and lumbery, some think he's super-dynamic. Kind of polarizing thoughts out there, so I want to see him run.

Max Bullough Michigan St. LB LB08 - Consummate "QB of the defense". Has the head for the game, but does he have the physical measurables?

Ka'Deem Carey* Arizona RB RB06 - Most outlets have him as RB1, others don't even list him in the top-10. Gotta be a reason for the polarity. if he runs good and shows good agility, he has to be the 1st fantasy RB taken in rookie drafts.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix* Alabama DB DB12 - Seriously, Ha Ha? What, was "ROFL" already taken? OK really, this guy is going to be a monster DB regardless of where he goes. Just curious to see what kind of sick measurables he puts out there.

Brandin Cooks* Oregon St WO WO13 - Product of system? Tavon Austin? Or is he actually a polished WR?

Isaiah Crowell* Alabama St. RB RB09 - If we're talking talent alone, Crowell probably deserves to be in the top 3 or 4 RBs. A great combine will make his stock soar.

Kony Ealy* Missouri DL DL08 - Along with that Michael Sam guy, was a big part of the Mizzou defense. Could be a sleeper if he tests well.

Devonta Freeman* Florida St RB RB12 - This RB class is deep. A good combine will catapult Freeman into the upper tier since he's really knocking on the door already.

Jimmy Garoppolo Eastern Illinois QB QB06 - Really, how much more can his stock rise? He's now a fringe early 2nd/late 1st kind of guy. A good combine could assure him of being in the 1st with so many teams needing a QB.

Marion Grice Arizona St RB RB14 - Another shifty, good pass-catching back that is flying under the radar. A good combine will put him on everyone's map.

Jackson Jeffcoat Texas DL DL19 - Actually had a semi-decent career at UT but largely though to be a waste of talent. Could have a chip on his shoulder and will want to put up good combine #s.

Storm Johnson* UCF RB RB18 - Kind of in the Marion Grice category, although he's more of a traditional banger than Swiss army knife kind of RB.

Henry Josey* Missouri RB RB19 - Super deep sleeper who will appear on teams' radars with a good showing at the combine.

Chris Kirksey Iowa LB LB16 - Not quite as studly as Bullough but has a lot of the same positive points.

Jarvis Landry* LSU WR WO31 - Some outlets like him better than Beckham, Jr. Others think his ceiling is limited.

Arthur Lynch Georgia TE TE15 - Tony Gonzalez or Jimmy Graham he is not, but something intrigues me here. Poor man's Jason Witten, maybe.

Khalil Mack Buffalo LB LB18 - In the same camp as Barr. Uber-stud.

Johnny Manziel* Texas A&M QB QB08 - Do you live under a rock?

Jordan Matthews Vanderbilt WR WO35 - Smooth as silk, but does he have a turbo engine or just a 4-banger?....

....

will update tomorrow night...

AJ McCarron Alabama QB QB10 - his reluctance to take part in the Senior Bowl has me worried. I think he's nothing more than an NFL backup (at best).

Zach Mettenberger LSU QB QB11 - pure pocket passer could really thrive in the right system and/or under the right veteran QB. His shredded-up knee is obviously of concern.

Donte Moncrief* Ole Miss WR WO36 - was on my radar this time last year but hasn't really jumped off the screen for me. Will be interested to see what his workouts look like. Could be a sleeper.

C.J. Mosley Alabama LB LB20 - Is this guy Rolando McClain? I hope not, he looks good on film.

Aaron Murray Georgia QB QB13 - This time last year he looked like a solid pro prospect. Not so sure right now.

Kevin Norwood Alabama WR WO37 - Stood out to me at the Senior Bowl. Flew under the radar at Alabama as their WR2. Could impress.

Silas Redd USC RB RB25 - Kind of like Isaiah Crowell without the off-field issues. As in, where did this guy disappear to? Will have to shine at Combine to move up the board.

Bryn Renner UNC QB QB14 - Strikes me as the kind of QB that could really kick ass at the Combine and make it as a later-round pick.

Paul Richardson* Colorado WR WO40 - There's been buzz, but honestly I haven't seen much tape on the guy. Watching him at the Combine can help me figure him out.

Allen Robinson* Penn St WR WO41 - A couple of experts have pegged him as their #1 WR. What-the-whaaaaaa? OK, let's see what he can do.

Michael Sam Missouri DL DL42 - .... but no, really... I think he's better than what people are crediting him with.

Bishop Sankey* Washington RB RB26 - I think he's very close to Carey in skill level. A bitchin' Combine will prove that.

... rest later.

Lache Seastrunk* Baylor RB RB27 - Another guy whose value is all over the place. I've seen him as high as RB1 and even in the top-3 over all but I don't know if I buy it. He doesn't look like an NFL RB to me. He's a great athlete with awesome straight line speed, but seems to dance a little bit too much of the hole is not 100% obvious. So kind of like a WR who was put in the backfield to get him the ball more. So it'll be nice to see how he measures up against the other top-tier RBs.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins* Washington TE TE21 - People are wowed by this guy's blend of size and athleticism, but then there are those that just think he's too lumber-y. I wanna see how fast he is.

Charles Sims West Virginia RB RB28 - ***SLEEPER ALERT*** I think this guy has as much talent as any RB in this class. We shall see.

De'Anthony Thomas Oregon RB RB31 - This guy has bust written all over him. Is he any better/different than LaMichael James? Maybe I'm wrong but I see him as a gadget guy at BEST.

Logan Thomas Virginia Tech QB QB17 - From a size/athleticism standpoint, he's ideal. But he's slipped big time. A good combine can put him back in the mix.

Kyle Van Noy BYU LB LB33 - I like this guy. If he can put up good combine numbers he could be one of the better fantasy LBs in this class.

Sammy Watkins* Clemson WR WO47 - Yeah he's a stud, but let's see if he's A.J. Green studly or just a guy that'll be a pretty good playmaker in the NFL.

James Wilder Jr. Florida St RB RB34

Andre Williams Boston College RB RB35 - Both of these guys appear on many pundits' top-5/10 for RBs. I'm not sold, yet.

I wish I could talk freely about the rookie skill players. The downside of playing in dynasty B.O.T.H. leagues.

Honestly, for me, at this point in the process I think it's pretty safe. Things are going to change dramatically after the draft. Once that happens (or heck, even after the combine), the level of detail I go into will greatly decrease.

Honestly, for me, at this point in the process I think it's pretty safe.

Agree. When I'm dealing with someone, I don't even worry about anything they may have posted, said, or otherwise indicated. I'm going to pay as much as I'm willing to pay, I'm going to demand as much as I would have demanded, and I'm going to walk away from any deal that doesn't fit what I believe is right. Someone may profess to be "super high" on Watkins in the 1.1, but when they offer you the 1.12 and 2015 3rd for it, how "high" they are takes on a different perspective.

Plus the potential for handling information is so great. What a great chance to start chatting up guys everyone else is in overdrive about, or that you can't pick due to needs. Or the best, get people going all one way over a guy that has something change when you can adjust and others don't so well. In my homer league there was a lot of discussion over how worried they were when GB drafted a second RB, one that was pretty highly touted and a passing-down candidate. All of a sudden Lacy's being thrown around at RB 30 talk. The ones that can see right through that can really score big. Or when DeAndre Hopkins went to the Texans, where the priority at WR2 in that offense, let alone a rookie, was right up there with getting their OT goal line carries. Everyone's down on him, were hoping he'd go to New England or Indianapolis, and he's slipping through the cracks. Now, just 12 months later, those that looked behind the curtain have a young stud in an offense with a new head coach, new OC, and new QB.

Even after the draft this doesn't worry me. There are lots of good players out there, far too many for me to get all of them anyway. If someone picks up on something from me and drafts a guy because of it, there's still going to be someone just as "good" left. Maybe I opened my mouth about Cordorelle Patterson last year and someone sniped him. If I took Keenen Allen as a concession, I did fine. It's not so much about how others pick from you, that's going to happen a lot, it's about you making right picks.

NFLN coverage:

Sat and Sun 9am - 4pm

Sat and Sun 4am - 8pm

Sat and Sun 9pm -11pm sweet an hour to eat!

I think just the first session is live, and the others are just recaps and replays. Of course it's going to be 1000000 shots of Sammy Watkins 40 and Mike Evans' vertical and 20 minutes of coverage of the rest of the schmucks, but the first session should be fresher. DVR is set and that will be a lot of work-from-home downtime next week!

QB

I don't think anything changed much here. There were no super-athletes we were looking for, and the closest one I cared about was Bridgwater who didn't run. Manziel ran a 4.68, but he's not nearly so much about flat-out speed as he is about his ability to create and still get throws off out of that.

Pro day workouts will tell us a lot more about their arms (if there even is anything left to learn), and the reads and decision-making are already on film.

I still like McCarron and Mettenberger as the under-rated ones and if they land in the right situation and get good coaching I think could exceed expectations. Garoppolo might be too, I haven't seen any of his film.

Logan Thomas is the deep flier, but that's a copout. He's big, strong, mobile, athletic, so of course he's got the highest ceiling if he hits. Needs a ton of work but if he gets there he'll pay out. I'll watch where he's drafted, and if it's to a coach that can develop a QB color me intrigued.

RB

No real wow factor hit here, and that's a surprise since there usually are a couple. A bunch of guys looked pleasantly good, just no huge impacts. Sankey and Mason ran decent 40's and were smooth in drills. Seastrunk's official time was ordinary but he jumped out of the gym and he looked pretty good in the drills. Charles Sims worked out well and just put himself in a lot of conversations, he's got a lot of nice production on his resume already. Overall Sankey made the biggest jump for me. He looks very solid and bigger than I anticipated. I wasn't very high on him, and I might need to adjust.

Jeremy Hill looked much more natural catching the ball than expected given his low production. Had he or Carlos Hyde Hyde run a sub-4.5 they are the winners of the combine Hyde pulled a hamstring on his first 40 so we didn't see anything but didn't really need to, we already know what he is.

De'Anthony Thomas' official was a very disappointing 4.5 and he looked very awkward at times in drills. His highlights are through the roof of course, but without some level of consistency on film he's going to drop. He'll get a shot of course, he's too intriguing not to, but I could see him dropping to the very late rounds unless he's on fire at his pro day.

Wilder looked awful. Slow, upright, stiff. Looked like a LB, should have stayed there at FSU. Carey didn't impress either but he has some serious production and history to offset that. Devonta Freeman looked ordinary too, but I already had that on him. Was hoping maybe he would change my mind. Nope. Andre Williams showed why he caught zero passes this year. Big concern with getting full-time work. I don't doubt he can play, but wonder how much he'll get on the field.

WR

This class is loaded. Not so much with sure-fire guys, but the potential is amazing. If you told me there were 10 future pro-bowlers here, I'd believe you but have no clue which 10 to predict. I'd include Watkins and Evans as my no-brainers but there are 20 others to fill out those last 8 slots. I had a DVR fail so missed a bunch of these workouts though so will need some help filling in the blanks.

Watkins looked pretty much as expected. He didn't blow the doors off with his 40, but he didn't hurt himself. Evans was pleasantly quick in the 40 but looked a little stiff running drills, not nearly so smooth as his comparisons to VJax would suggest. All of a sudden a half dozen+ guys proved out their biggest question of speed and look like legit fantasy performers: Cooks with his 4.33, Jordan Matthews ran a great time, Kevin Norwood was fast, Donte Moncrief, Odell Beckham, Ellington, Abbrederis all looked good. Allen Robinson wasn't fast but wasn't expected to be, and he jumped well. Iffy moments in drills might concern but there's a lot of film that belays those fears so he'll stay in the conversation. Davante Adams is similar with without as much good film to fall back on.

Landry took a big hit. The film is still the film, but he measured in under 6 feet and ran an official 4.78. All the damage control in the world won't save that, he needs a big pro day. He was supposed to balance out a lower ceiling potential with a super-safe baseline, but this makes one wonder. Benjamin had the same results. His size is fine, but his numbers were bad and I didn't see his workouts but the feedback I got was that it wasn't pretty. Much higher risk there, and all of a sudden the high reward might be a question. Marquis Lee wasn't nearly as dynamic as I thought he would be. His first two years were lights out and I was ready to dismiss his junior year as a perfect storm of health, coaching, and overall environment problems, but now I'm worried there's more to it than that. Both can clearly correct with good pro days of course, and shouldn't fall out of the 3rd round regardless, but they probably cost themselves some money today.

Sleepers also showed up. Martavis Bryant might have shed that tag already after running an official 4.42 and jumped well, and at 6'5" that's going to get him some attention. If he runs good routes at pro day someone is going to fall in love and reach on him. Jalen Saunders, Jeff Janis, Tevin Reese, Mike Campanero, Robert Herron, L'Damian Washington, TJ Jones, Philly Brown - I'm not going to be at all surprised if one of these guys gets into a good fit system and turns into a Pierre Garcon or TY Hilton.

TE

Boring. Ebron ran an ok time then sat the rest of the day. Amaro was a tad on the slow side, and looked awkward in drills at times. His numbers are huge, but inflated by system? Austin Sefarian-Jenkins didn't work out, which he needs to do. He's huge, but hasn't really performed up to what his body looks like he should be producing at. How fast is he? How strong? What kind of natural athlete can he be? Is he Brandon Pettigrew or does he have more potential?

Lots of middle-range guys that might suffice in a pinch but no one really made much of a move. Troy Niklas was all over the place - his reps were high, he was ok jumping, his 3-cone and 20 yard shuttle were terrible, and he didn't run a 40. He's getting a lot of hype recently but didn't answer anything today. Xavier Grimble is getting some love but only jumped, and not very well.

There are some deep guys that intrigue. AC Leonard had some eye-popping numbers and was a one-time SEC recruit (thrown out for behavior) so the talent is there. Lyerla was at one point a huge potential guy but went insane last fall. Except for the bench (15, lowest among TE) he looked the part, jumping great and running a solid 4.61. Both will get drafted now but that wasn't a given going in. Where they go will be something to watch.

Clowney's 40 time is just ridiculous, but what makes it even more so is the 10-yard split... the first ten yards ran at 1.54, where the average WR is 1.58 :shocking:

He may not fit in Romeo Crennel's system at HOU, and yes they have JJ Watt, but you figure out a way to get that guy in your defense. He's a friggin' freak.

He's been trying to break 6 seconds for three years - 6.18, 6.03, and 6.03. He ran a 6-flat, then went again and Mayock clocked him at 5.98. I suspect Mayock might have gotten a little trigger happy, as Eisen was still breathing hard when he lined up for it, but they still had fun with it.

They then simulcast him over a bunch of guys, with Clowney first. Eisen was at the 27 yard mark when Clowney finished. Manziel, Archer, Louis Nix, Nix with a 1 yard head start (Eisen won), Lewan and Gallon both (Eisen is a raging Michigan man and was slobbering all over Lewan's knob Saturday), and then over a bunch of his past runs. Quite comical.

Regarding Clowney, he's a freak with questionable motivation. Some are already suggesting his mediocre 21 reps was lack of effort. The dude knows he's a freak with incredible ability, but he also seems a little entitled to cruise whenever he feels like it. Sure, he says he wants to be one of the best ever, but that's lip service. The best have always had the work ethic to match, and this guy doesn't seem to have that.

I really don't know how he'll turn out but 21 reps is not bad especially with such long arms. And with such tremendous skills in all other aspects, he could be an absolute monster!

I missed the entire combine while working on a Bollywood movie. :furious::furious::furious::furious::furious:

Well Taz, that's good/bad news. Kudos to you, as I'd rather hear that you missed all of the combine because of work rather than because of a drunken stupor.
