Zooty
Emmanuel Sanders - WR - Broncos Front office executives around the NFL are reportedly "fuming and crying foul" over Emmanuel Sanders' decision to sign with the Broncos. It has nothing to do with the Broncos, but everything to do with Sanders and his agent. Sanders reportedly agreed to terms with the Chiefs earlier in the week before his agent took that offer to Tampa Bay and engaged in talks with the Bucs. The 49ers had a visit set up with Sanders before he and his agent blew it off. "This was one of the worst situations in modern football negotiations," one executive said. Another said Sanders' agent, Steve Weinberg, broke "every rule in negotiations." What Weinberg did isn't against the rules, but it's commonly accepted that once sides agree with a handshake or in writing, the deal is set. Weinberg has two clients currently in the NFL. flemingd
I don't know exactly what was said, but this sounds like the good ol' boys club at its finest. Until the ink is on the paper it's not, and the agent's job is to get the best deal for his client. Sounds like someone counting their chickens before they hatch, and someone else not liking him having an offer in hand and using it as leverage. Players rarely get much leverage with today's CBA, I don't blame them one bit for using it when they do. his agent had been banned for something like 8 yrs from the NFL before. Decertified by the NFLPA, not banned from the NFL, and for totally unrelated issue. He was dissolving a partnership and tried to hide money offshore, which set his clients up to have their wages garnished. I have no clue why this would be allowed or legal, but based on this fact he lost his ability to represent players for a time.

Savage Beatings
Sure it's not illegal, but Weinberg may have cost himself future clients. Imagine you are a Free Agent hoping to sign with a playoff contending team, and then you hear, "Sorry kid, we like you a lot, but we refuse to negotiate with your unethical agent."
