Capt. Stanky
It sure looks like it's already a foregone conclusion that D-Jax will not be an Eagle next year. What I am wondering is what that does to the value of Jeramy Maclin and Riley Cooper? I have always been a fan of Maclin, and besides his injury history, always thought he was a better more complete WR than D-Jax. Is he a possible WR 1 as the defecto #1 on this team? Is Cooper a potential #2? I also expect them to draft a WR in the top 2 rounds. Thoughts?
irish
I do think that the Eagles will draft a WR and rather early. Somebody needs to step up and replace the production that allowed Jackson to finish as a top 12 WR in fantasy last year. However, with Maclin coming back off injury (I do think he is a more complete WR than Jackson) and Cooper probably pretty close to his ceiling level of production already (he finished as a low #2 in large leagues and mid-high #3 in smaller leagues), drafting somebody makes sense. Cooper also had his numbers inflated a bit because of the 8 TDs. Can he do that again? Possibly, he does have good size. Overall he ranked 31st among WRs but finished in the top 15 in regard to TDs. He only caught 47 passes on 83 targets with Maclin out the entire year. With Sproles in town and a possible addition at WR, will his numbers really increase? However, it's also possible that between getting Maclin back, adding someone in the draft, who produces minimally, using Sproles to replace some of Jackson's production, along with a slight uptick for Cooper and the TEs, no one really benefits much. Jackson put up 270 pts last year and Cooper came in around 185. So, that 455 pts, 129 rec and 17 TDs will get split between, Maclin, Cooper, Sproles and a new WR addition. Zooty
I'm not so sure that DJax is definitely gone yet but assuming that he is.... Multiple Eagles beat writers are already reporting that they will draft a WR in the first or second round. Looks obvious as a fan to since their other glaring need is a pass rusher. So there are your firsat 2 picks. Maclin will probably be OK as a possession guy assuming he's recovered and stays healthy. I'm not sure that they have much in Cooper. I would see him move into the deep guy to replace Djax and Maclin as the "#1". So they won't really have a true #1. The #3 would become a blackhole since Avant is gone. I assume that Ertz would have to step up to that role. I don't know if they think they have something in Benn or Demarius johnson but it looks to me like moving Djax and replacing him with Maclin is a hugh step back for the offense. Capt. Stanky
Maclin was only signed to a 1 year prove it deal, so even more reason for them to go WR in either the 1st or 2nd. I think Maclin is still being a tad undervalued by you two. If healthy, I don't see him taking the top off the defense like D-Jax, but his route tree is far superior, and I could see him surpassing D-Jax's 82 grabs from a year ago. He also has the extra incentive of it being a contract year. Maclin's value should continue to rise if D-Jax gets traded or cut, and he proves healthy in training camp and the pre-season. I'm thinking he's someone you can draft as a mid to late WR 2 with WR 1 upside. Maybe I am over valuing him a bit?

He can't beat double coverage and he's coming off an injury. He doesn't have size like Brandon Marshall where Foles can force the ball to him. He isn't out muscling anyone. At best he's a Marvin Harrison type but doesn't run routes like Marvin.

Jackass
Maclin's one of those players that when you watch him, every time he's tackled you just hope he's not hurt and he gets up.
Tripleshot
I just can't help but think that there's got to be some big issues lurking under the surface. Not sure if it's Jackson's me-first attitude, that he's already whining about being underpaid, or if it's something related to that burglary at his house that's being investigated by the Philly police(awful lot of cash stolen without any signs of forced entry). Whatever it is, when I see a near-playoff quality team willing to jettison an 80-1300-10 type receiver it makes me nervous in regard to signing him to my own team, because no, he's not just misunderstood. NAUgrad
Fantasy wise, I see a big uptick in Cooper. Watched him a little last year and was fairly impressed. I think he may be worth a mid round pick as a 3rd wideout. We all know Phili is going to throw the ball a ton and Maclin is clearly not as good as DJax so I think that means that Cooper will get plenty of opportunities. irish
Nope, just think there is potential there. Oh okay. Definitely is, however, I think he's pretty close to his ceiling. Not too mention what I did before with the eagles grabbing Sproles, having 2 solid TEs and probably drafting a WR to steal away touches. flemingd
I think this whole thing was overblown anyway. Did anyone really expect them to just dump their main playmaker? Willingly go into the season with a broken-ass Maclin and Riley Cooper as their WR corp?

flemingd
Why not the Panthers did it Yeah but there's precedent there. The dumbassery began long ago with those RB contracts and has just continued.
