Shorttynaz
http://profootballta...desean-jackson/ "The Eagles are moving on from DeSean Jackson. In a two-sentence press release, the club announced Friday it had released Jackson, a Pro Bowl wideout who led them in receiving in 2013. “After careful consideration over this offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles have decided to part ways with DeSean Jackson,” the club said Friday. “The team informed him of his release today.” The move comes after weeks of trade rumors and public discussion of Jackson’s future with the Eagles." NAUgrad
Holly crap I can't believe they just let him go. He is very talented and will help any team that grabs him. Maybe there is more of an attitude issue than we know. If Smith were still in Carolina and Carolina grabs dJax, would Smith have kept him in line? Def.
RotoWorld stating - The Newark Star-Ledger reports DeSean Jackson's off-field behavior, particularly his connection to a Los Angeles street gang, is the Eagles' chief concern and main reason they're entertaining trading or releasing him. Jackson has a problem with missing team meetings, and the Eagles reportedly believe his friends are becoming a powerful, negative influence. The team is "concerned about having [Jackson] around the younger players. Jackson has become close with a man named Theron Shakir, a member of the Crips and one of two men charged in the murder of a 14-year-old rival gang member. The Eagles simply don't want to wake up to an Aaron Hernandez situation one morning. Jackson has very likely played his last down for the Eagles. Mar 28 - 12:39 PM Did not know that if true... WashingtonD
I think while disturbing the truth is if his cap number was smaller (even though they are taking a 6.5 mill dead money hit this year) he wouldn't have gotten cut.
flemingd
Pretty stunning on the surface, but I get it given the rest of the story. They even save $6M under the cap too. Wake-up time for Jackson.

CaptainHook
I wonder if the Eagles got a head up on the article and just panicked and cut him?
rajncajn
Derrick Ward rant was pretty spot on. Unless Jackson has actually done something wrong or there is more to the story that they are not telling for some reason, this just another prime example of character assassination by the media in order to get attention and by the Eagles to justify to their fans dumping one of their best players. I'd be willing to bet that this is all about money and Chip Kelley. Edited March 29, 2014 by rajncajn
Donutrun Jellies
Meh. Desean is getting paid too much already, keeps yammering about a new contract, thinks he's irreplaceable after his only pro season with more than 62 catches. He's been through the failure to report thing, missing meetings, etc. His gang sign attempts are pathetic and his affiliation with murder suspects doesn't help - but it's the 5 year $51 million albatross contract that ended his flight as an Eagle. Nobody in the NFL was willing to trade anything for him because of the contract .. now, I gotta believe he'll be a Raider as they flail about trying to spend money for talent the way a blindfolded 7-year-old swings at a piñata. Tripleshot
Seattle will be discussing bring DeSean in because they have to replace Tate. Seattle doesn't want him for three reasons. First, even if he signed for what the Seahawks would offer(far below his 10 mil/year he had in Philly) it would only take until his first game with 100 yards or a TD before he starts yipping about being underpaid. Two, I don't think Carroll/Schneider would take on his me-first atttude. It just doesn't fit into their locker room at all. Third, and the biggest reason they won't sign him is because Golden Tate has already been replaced. Everyone seems to forget Harvin's going to be playing all the snaps Tate got last year. Wolverines Fan
Per Ian Rappoport on twitter, the Chiefs are no longer interested in DJax. His former coach doesn't want him.
CaptainHook
The fact that the Eagles cut him, and his former coach says they are out of the running...there should be red flags and alarm bells going off around the league...
