Talk about sour grapes. A 49ers fan is suing the NFL because he couldn't cheer for his team due to the Seahawks playoffs ticket policy.

The 49ers cannot stay out of the news this offseason. I guess they feel entitled.

You mean as the CEO of a 10 billion dollar corporation he's not entitled to a measley 30 mil per year? :fishy:

One could also argue that his is more of a public figure head for the league then even players like Manning. :fishy:

Seattle can sell their tickets to whomever they please. What a little bitch.

Side note: The NFL continuing to be classifed as not for profit is criminal.

The NFL as an organization is non-profit, however the teams & their ownerships are not. All "profits" are divided up between the teams via profit-sharing and then the taxes are paid by the individual teams. Subsequently, Goodell's ridiculous salary is paid from the owners profits, which are taxed.

Now, as with many corporate organizations I have to wonder how much in taxes each team is actually paying. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they weasel their way out of paying what they probably should, but that's a completely different argument. As for the tax exemption of the NFL istelf, it's a bit of a misconception that the "NFL" doens't have to pay taxes.

The NFL as a business entity doesn't make anything. The owners as individuals get all the revenues and pay the expenses of all league functions, including salaries of NFL office personnel.

I did not realize thats how it works. Makes sense. Its like a professional association rather than a company. Just a really exclusive association.

Goodell is still a weasel.

You'll get no argument from me there.

I take it you like how he handled Sterling.

Normally, any business owner can be as much a racist as he wants to be. It's not against the law, he's just an arsehole. Except in this case, he's representing the NBA, and his bolshevik stands to alienate not only 95%+ of the NBA fan base but the league's own players. And then you have to take into account all of the game broadcasts, merchandising, branding and advertising dollars in jeopardy if the league didn't act strongly against Sterling. Plus, this isn't a first offense by far, just the worst in a long line of unacceptable behavior. Silver did what he had to do.

Sterling deserves this outcome. What a tool. I'm curious though about what folks think regarding the conversation itself. Wasn't it a private conversation that his mistress recorded and then leaked to the media. I would think she is setting herself up for some major lawsuits from an already lawsuit happy Dill Josh Gordon. Does this fall into defamation of character? Just wondering

She's already being sued by his wife to return a condo.

Someone did a criminal act in secretly recording that and then leaking it. They certainly knew what they were doing. Imagine how much money that conversation is going to cost him and it wasn't even legal to have done.

Yep, wasn't saying I disagree with Silver, just that it seemed Taz was very happy with the decision.

If the lowly Kings and Bucks sold for between 535 and 550 million each, the Clippers should fetch at least 750 million, if not closer to a billion dollars, given the market the team is in and the talent on that team.

And some heavy hitters financially are stepping up to buy the Clip. The once bottom feeders of the league are now actually good and may go for closer to 1B.
