stevegrab
If you are going to bash living in LA you damn well have better lived there otherwise you have no idea what you are talking about. (remove LA and insert any other city before you blow holes open your mouths) Lived in LA from 1970-82, from 5 to 17 years of age. Loved it then and hated moved to Cleveland Ohio at that age. But as an adult when I go back now there is so much I don't like. The traffic, the crowds, the traffic, the high costs, the traffic, people all in a hurry and many who think their honda don't stink. Even my own siblings who I don't see but every few years seem a condescending and think they're superior to people in the heartland. I remember about 15years ago my family came out for vacation, we ended up out to dinner and my sister-in law was shocked when we were asked "smoking or non-smokiing" at a restaurant. I guess they lived in their Cali bubble and thought the rest of the world had the same rules they do. Of course they also peddle smut and porn like mad, but they're otherwise great wholesome people. Then there was the time I was with my brother and some friends of his (one from AZ the other SoCal) and how dirty they felt walking into a Wal-Mart (we needed beer and that was the place that had it). Just hate when people trash where I live. I agree with washD though, if you're going to trash somewhere you really had to have lived there not just vacationed to have a valid opinion. Hate to perpetuate the derailment of a thread topic, but a few points: 1. Born/raised in California. Midwest/southern roots... lived in Texas for 6 years and now live in the upper Midwest. I agree with a few of your points... kind of. 2. There's traffic everywhere. Not just Southern California. It's bad there, but it's just as bad elsewhere. Sorry. Fail. 3. People think their "honda" doesn't stink in other locales, too... sorry. Maybe your siblings are just douchebags. Again, sorry. Fail. 4. You use smoking in a restaurant as an example? Really? I don't think that has anything to do with SoCal. That has to do with enjoying your food. 5. There aren't many Wal-Marts in SoCal. It gets stigmatized, sometimes, for being trashy. Blame internet sites like "People of Wal-Mart". 6. Sounds like you're trashing a place you lived in 30+ years ago and making generalizations that are pretty far-fetched. But yeah, I agree folks shouldn't trash where they've never really lived.

I'll rate your post a 1.5345 Very few places in the US have traffic like SoCal, its not just rush hour its non stop. That is what you get with such a large metro area. Atlanta was the closest to LA that I experienced. Maybe its just that we have very little real traffic here in NE Ohio compared to other places. As for the smoking example the point was very few places had made laws against smoking in restaurants at the time, yet my SIL thought it was so outrageous because it was illegal where they lived. "I cannot believe they still allow that in some places", the reality was it was allowed in more places than not at the time (around 2000). Its the whole "the rest of the world isn't as progressive as we are" bit that bugs me.

San Diego here...yes the weather is nice ...yes water issues are a big problem..yes we have earthquakes and smug people here and FIRES (smh) ...so that being said..almost all I have interacted with are mellow folk with a sense of humor and we may like to dine without a plume of smoke...but we bleed like you. Don't be fooled. This our only ark. Let's enjoy the voyage. Gotta smoke?? Gotta do it?? Go ahead ...Outside. (side note: please dispose of said "smoke" properly ...please). That's all MOST will ask..Honestly. Edited June 4, 2014 by boltnlava

Papa Deuce
I won my league last year because Gordon saved my ass when Julio went down. I also had DeSean Jackson, who, after the trade, I don't like as much as I did last season. Since we can have keepers forever, my plan has gone to hell..... I had planned on Keeping Julio, Gordon, and Calvin, plus Peterson. Now I don't have a 4th keeper that I really like. And we MUST keep 4. I will never understand why athletes risk so much money by smoking pot. Why not just drink, as at least it is legal.

They really are nothing alike. .. and from a legalization standpoint. .. if anything should be illegal it is drinking. I only say that because between the two it is more harmful on all fronts
BA Baracus
So...I have been trying to figure out what to make of the Gordon situation. I see some places saying that he missed a drug test and others saying that he failed a drug test. Does anyone know the facts? One would think that with the internet, facts could easily be found, but they are seemingly buried under a landfill of conjecture. Do you think the fact that the appeal hearing date hasn't been set bodes well or ill for Gordon? Didn't Lynch play for like a season and a half waiting for an appeal hearing? Do you think the fact that the appeal hearing date hasn't been set bodes well or ill for Gordon? Didn't Lynch play for like a season and a half waiting for an appeal hearing? The story I heard on NFL Radio was that he missed it. Or rather it missed him. They send a person to collect a sample and he wasn't where he said or was supposed to be. But a missed test is equivalent to a failed test. I though Lynch's story was for his DUI hearing?
BA Baracus
Lynch's deal was for a DUI. I can't remember if he was waiting on an NFL hearing or a court hearing.
stevegrab
I haven't heard much locally but will keep my eyes and ears open. Was out of town on vacation for 2 weeks then busy at a meeting with customers most of this week so haven't listened to much local news. Before posting I did a little reading and came across an article that says the Browns hope to know his fate by late July before players report to training camp. I find it odd that they haven't made a ruling on Gordon one way or another. I personally hope he doesn't get suspended for the whole season but that more because i'm a browns fans. I think that the reason this process is taking so long is Gordon isn't the only person at fault. I think that someone from the league didn't do something right and that's why this is taking such a long time. I have nothing in terms of facts to base this on but that is my gut feeling.
BA Baracus
Or you take the same exact actual information and put a positive spin on it. "Best guesses are between 4 and 8 games if an agreement is reached. That would allow the Browns to still have Gordon for at least half of their games and keep him around the team much more. A reduced suspension would allow him to continue in Training Camp and learn the playbook as well." The only facts that have changed is that now they have a rough time frame for his appeal hearing. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that it is a little early for the I-told-you-so's on either side of this issue.
