ThatBoiSoliz91
What's going on guys….so me and my company started a 10 team league last week. Draft is this Sunday, and I usually know what to do but I never have played in a league were passing tds are worth 6 points, receiving tds are worth 6 points and rushing tds are worth 6 points. My question is how do I draft property…as in, do I draft a QB in the 1st round if aaron drew or manning get to me or draft one in the 5th round. I'm the 8th spot but here are the standings that were made for this league. Kinda crazy standings if you ask me but they could totally work in my favor, if I were to play my cards right. 1 QB 2 WR 2 RB 1 RB or WR (Flex Spot) 1 TE 1 K 1 Def. 1. Peyton Manning 2. Drew Brees 3. Mathew Stafford 4. Jamaal Charles 5. LeSean McCoy 6. Calvin Johnson 7. Matt Forte 8. Adrian Peterson 9. Aaron Rodgers 10.Eddie Lacy 11. DeMarco Murray 21. Zac Stacy 31. Ryan Mathews 12. Zach Ertz Took me a while to type but you all see where I am coming from. Do you mind helping me on how to go about this. I really like Adrian, then if I'm kinda stuck at the 2nd pick… if Jimmy is still there… ill most likely take him even though I don't wanna take TE but its hard to pass on him here. AJ green in the 3rd round seems very nice. 4th, not sure….I just wanna make sure I have a strong RB game.
ShuckCreations
Your league's scoring is similar to mine. The first round can be a bit crazy with that scoring. RBs should still be main priority because there are a limited quantity of consistent, reliable bell cows. Here's my top 10: LeSean McCoy Jamaal Charles Matt Forte Peyton Manning Jimmy Graham Demaryius Thomas Calvin Johnson Marshawn Lynch Drew Brees Adrian Peterson These are the draft positions I would feel comfortable taking said player. ie) if I were to draft 5th I would take Jimmy. I draft based on value at the position, with a little intuitive rearranging based on what's needed and league drafting habits. My point I guess is don't be scared to grab Peyton early. 30 points a week is huge value over the other average 20 point QBs (which there are a ton of btw). You don't see that 10 point different except with Jimmy Graham. Not in the RBs or the WRs. Sure there are the studs but not with that amount of difference. If you don't end up with a top tier QB you can usually wait until the 7th or 8th round to pick up one of those 20 point a week guys. I wouldn't reach for Rodgers though. Maybe 2nd or 3rd round if still available? Gronk is another good high value pick, but with risk. Don't draft him above the 3rd round. DanTheMan_5
My 12 team league with similiar scoring (ppr) went like this. 1. P. Manning 2. A. Peterson 3. J. Charles 4. M. Forte (me) 5. E. Lacy 6. M. Ball 7. L. McCoy 8. C. Johnson 9. Demarious THomas 10. M. Lynch 11. Dez Bryant 12/13 Brees-Graham I will say this. Generally in a 10 team league I will place slightly less value on WR's because the pool is so deep. However, this would not keep me from taking either C.. Johnson or D. Thomas in the 1st round. After those 2 I think the field starts to grade down very gradually.
ThatBoiSoliz91
Shuck creations. Thanks for the reply. That helped me out a bit. So if I could possibly get jimmy in the 2nd round... I shouldn't hesitate? I would really like to go Adrian Peterson and then maybe another rb that was passed up or a wideout like aj green or rb like marshawn if he is still there. Question though, why is Lynch going so late? People are saying he is gonna have a bust season and stuff
ShuckCreations
Yes, most definitely. If Jimmy is still available in the 2nd I would snatch him up in a heartbeat. Last year I had 4-5 players come up with injuries and Jimmy was the only reason I didn't end up in last place. The value at TE from Jimmy to the others (minus Gronk if he's healthy) is huge. The WR depth this year is endless and with QBs passing more and more you can wait a little and grab some top RBs first. I personally think Lynch is going to have an amazing season which is why I grabbed him in the second round and Jimmy in the first. My research shows me that running backs have their peak year at age 28. Lynch is 28. He has had great fantasy production. I expect this to be his best year. But this is my opinion. Your's may vary. EDIT: Also, for the record, the reason I took Jimmy in the first instead of a tier 1 QB was because Peyton and Brees were both gone by the time the 8th pick rolled around to me. ThatBoiSoliz91
You are helping me out a lot bro. I appreciate it. My only deal is if I do go Ap then Jimmy... A lot of the running backs might be taken and I'm left with like Reggie bush and cj spiller. I know I can take dez or aj green in the 3 or 4 round just my 2 back isn't going to be impressing unless someone falls to me. Then comes my Flex option which Idk if it should be a rb or wr. What are your opinions?
ShuckCreations
Here's the the first three rounds if you're curious. I've underlined my picks. What are your opinions? Try to find value RB picks that are falling in later rounds. Such as Ray Rice or Trent Richardson (Frank Gore is going in the 5th round!) if you're worried. I got Alfred Morris in the 4th. The point is to draft value at the position. Not production. For instance. From my top 20 RBs I have a difference of 6 points a game. From top 20 WRs there's a difference of 4. Top 20 TEs, a difference of 7 and that starts to drop off fast after the first 5 where the other positions are more gradual. Then you look at top 20 QBs. They have a difference of 16 points a game which is huge. Value. Ya you may get a top RB but you may only be gaining 2 or 3 points instead of 5 or 6...possibly more...at another position. Disclaimer: points above are using my scoring system but the concept should be obvious. Edited August 26, 2014 by ShuckCreations

AJ Green Team 2 7. Matt Forte or AP 14. Jimmy Graham 27. Dez Bryant 34. Andrew Luck Team 3 7.Matt Forte or AP 14. Marshawn Lynch 27. Dez Bryant 34. Andrew Luck I know the draft doesn't always go with how you would like it but I thought I miss around and see which way i should go. ShuckCreations
Team 2 would be great minus Luck. I think round 4 is a bit of a reach for him. More than likely, though, Jimmy will be gone by pick 14 leaving you with Team 1. EDIT: Now that I say that, looking again, A.J. will definitely not be available in round 4 for sure. You'll likely end up with Team 3. I would still grab a good WR round 4 instead of Luck. You can get Stafford in round 5 in most leagues. Aaron Rodgers could still be available which is much better, but I doubt it. Edited August 29, 2014 by ShuckCreations

ShuckCreations
I generally try to grab them a round or two before their average draft position.
DanTheMan_5
If you think Dez is gonna be there at 27 I want some of what you 2 are smoking.
JimKW
When I look at what you forecast in your Team 1 I see every one of those players gone in the 1st two rounds. Our scoring is almost identical to yours, but each team has 2 keepers. Every one of your Team 1 players are designated as keepers. If Manning, Brees or Rogers is there when your 1st pick comes, take one. If not, take the best RB left on the board. I have them ranked L McCoy, J Charles, A Peterson, M Forte. If all seven I just mentioned are gone (doubtful) I would probably take Calvin Johnson, but would have trouble passing on Eddie Lacy. ShuckCreations
If you think Dez is gonna be there at 27 I want some of what you 2 are smoking. It's more likely than A.J. Green being available in the 4th...but yeah I agree he'll probably be gone. I had to settle for Vincent Jackson in the 3rd. Mostly, ThatBoiSoliz91, you just need to do some mock 10 player drafts. Get a feel for when certain people go off the board. Figure out who you best want to target and when. I probably did 10 or 12 mock drafts this year and felt a lot more comfortable in my league's draft.
ThatBoiSoliz91
I totally understand where are 3 of you are coming from. I'm just going by the rankings. I couldn't believe when I saw dez aj and Julio jones ranked the 27-31 pick. That's what I'm going off by.

the outlaw
For what it's worth, here is how the first 3 rounds of my 10-team league went last week (same TD values, non-PPR). Like shuck, I've underlined my picks. Round 1: 1) L. McCoy 2) J. Charles 3) A. Peterson 4) M. Forte 5) E. Lacy 6) J. Graham 7) De. Thomas 8) Megatron 9) Dez 10) M. Lynch Round 2: 11) AJ Green 12) B. Marshall 13) D. Murray 14) P. Manning 15) D. Brees 16) M. Ball 17) A. Rodgers 18) L. Bell 19) A. Morris 20) Gio Round 3: 21) A. Ellington 22) K. Allen 23) A. Jeffery 24) J. Nelson 25) Julio 26) Z. Stacy 27) Fitz 28) M. Ryan 29) A. Foster 30) A. Brown From my perspective there were quite a few surprises in my draft, but I guess that goes to show just how diverse these drafts and strategies can be... ThatBoiSoliz91
Well the day finally came and let's just say it didn't go very because of one reason and that reason was picking someone in the 3rd round that I didn't even want. Hopefully I recovered by the rest of my picks. Remember, the scoring goes by 6 Points per passing TD, 6 points for rushing TD and 6 points for every Receiving TD. Here is my draft results…round by round and I was pick #5. I got moved from 7 to 5 because two guys had to fill in for 2 other guys that decided not to be in the league last min. 1) Adrian Peterson 2) Marshawn Lynch 3) BISHOP STANKEY… omg some one shoot me. It was supposed to be Brandon Marshall. Idk what happened. I could of have gotten Arian Foster, Zac Stacy or Alfred Morris 4) Antonio Brown 5) Randall Cobb 6) Andrew Luck 7) Chris Johnson 8) DeSean Jackson 9) Kyle Rudolph 10) Wes Welker 11) Greg Olsen 12) Jeremy Maclin 13) Andy Dalton 14) Matt Prater Backup Kicker…whatever his name is 15) Bengals Defense
ShuckCreations
Can't believe Marshall was still available in the 3rd round. And Antonio Brown in the 4th?! Wow. You should be okay with Sankey. You're RB depth is really good. I would suggest maybe trading for some more WR depth. DeSean, Welker, and Maclin all have injury history. But you might be fine as is. Overall I think you did pretty good.
ThatBoiSoliz91
Thanks man. I did what I could. Is it better to start a WR or RB at flex when the td points for both are the same? Yeah if I would of got Marshall and Antonio I would of been golden.

Yeah if I would of got Marshall and Antonio I would of been golden. When TDs are equal it's all based on the matchup. Sometimes it can be a tossup in the flex spot. I would start your best player available after the starters.
DanTheMan_5
I like your team. Antonio Brown and Randal Cobb are very very good WR's and I for 1 like Maclin. IF IF IF he stays healthy he could have a monster year because that other guy you drafted isn't on the Eagles team anymore.
ThatBoiSoliz91
I totally agree with you bro. I'm putting him in my flex position this week. Should get me a TD.
