Jelani Jenkins

Recommended Posts

With Mychal Kendricks still hurt (calf) I need someone to plug in for a BYE week. Curse you Inkuries!! Anyway, Jelani has produced! ...but Yahoo still keeps his projection at 1-2 points a game. I've gone ahead and dropped Kendricks for Jenkins and may keep on my bench after the BYE and watch his progress.

Any thoughts? Concerns?

I wouldn't drop kendricks, I think he should be back this week. Jenkins looks like a fill-in for Mia for now while Misa and Wheeler are hurt. You should get a few weeks from him but not sure if he's a longterm answer at LB

well, for a filler LB, he is performing nicely.

I was hoping for more MIA Homer input if this guy will at least take the starting spot from Trunsnik.

not a homer but from what I read Trusnik is starting at MLB and Jenkins at OLB. Misa should come back at MLB which may actually keep Jenkins on the field over Trusnik. Wheeler is the other OLB but I believe he is playing SLB

From my research it's usually the weak side that has more fantasy value for LBs. After middle and inside of course.

Well he didn't really pan out the way I'd hoped. Only 3 tackles. Oh well just Bye Week fodder. I didn't need him for the win this week anyway. :D

Not sure if you are a subscriber or not but I projected him for a 3-1-0 line and wrote this about him:

Injuries to Ellerbe and Misi have gotten Jenkins on the field and boy has he made the most of those opportunities. Fantasy wise he's the leading scorer among LBs. I'm sure he's been a hot waiver wire pickup but this week I'd severely lower expectations for him as he faces a Raiders team that ranks dead last in points allowed to LBs this year. To date, no LB has logged more than 5 solo tackles against the Raiders and the only LBs to do that were David Harris (5) and Brian Cushing (5).

Update: Jenkins (abdomen) was limited in practice all week and is listed as QUESTIONABLE on the injury report. Injury plus the poor matchup has me telling you to bench Jenkins this week. I don't care that he's the top scoring LB...just do it!
