CaptainHook
This could be a career-altering injury. No link, just what I've heard a couple homers say (as a result of what they've heard locally). Not as in his career is over, but he may have difficulty getting any kind of explosion and/or he may be more susceptible to related injuries in the future. Own him in a dynasty league and it really puts a damper on my ability to win this season. Believe it or not, it was a patella tendon injury that I think ultimately ended Austin Collie's career. Not all the concussions. He caught on with a couple teams the season after tearing it and went unsigned this year.
CaptainHook
"While it heals after surgery, it's a very difficult injury for a speed guy to come back from," said Dr. Craig Levitz, Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery at South Nassau Communities Hospital and Chief of Sports Medicine. "I don't recall a speed player that has made it back anything close to their former self. He will be ready to play next season, but he may not be good enough to play after he heals." A 2011 study in the American Journal of Sports Medicine looked at 24 incidents in which NFL players suffered a torn patellar tendon. Nineteen of those 24 players returned to participate in at least one NFL game. Those who did return averaged 45.4 games, or roughly three more seasons. The conclusion of the study was that surgery "generally produces good functional results and allows for return to play the following season." http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/giants/victor-cruz-faces-challenging-comeback-after-suffering-serious-knee-injury-1.9499178
