Is Josh Gordon a must start....?

He is in my roster for the rest of the year. I did not hold him all season to sit him and watch him go off.

ODB vs Dallas

Crabtree vs Washington

AJ Green vs Houston

Landry vs Denver

Gordon vs Atlanta

I'd said I wasn't going to start him his first week, but the temptation is definitely great and, at least on paper, looks like one of my better matchups. Something keeps telling me though that this game will be won on the ground for Cleveland and they will give it another week before letting him off the chain.

The only hesitation would be his conditioning. We're all assuming he returns in "football shape" and ready for "game speed". We shall see. I couldn't copy the link but here is report from CBS:

"The Browns have not seen wideout Josh Gordon practice since August. At Wednesday's practice, they'll find out what kind of shape he's in, reports USA Today.

Gordon worked out with strength coaches and attended meetings during his 10-game suspension, but he wasn't allowed to practice. Last season, upon returning from a two-game suspension, Gordon caught 10 passes for 146 yards against the Vikings"

From NFL.com and Rotoworld:

Josh Gordon told ex-Browns WR Nate Burleson that he plans to "tear this league up" upon his return from a 10-game suspension.

Whooo boy! Via Burleson, Gordon recently said, "I'm going to lose 10-15 pounds. When I come back, I'm going to tear this league up." Observers at Browns practice Wednesday said Gordon looked sharp running routes and in shape during the 15 or so minutes open to the media. The Browns have alluded to easing Gordon back into the picture, but Falcons coach Mike Smith isn't buying it. And neither are we. Cleveland is in the middle of a dogfight for a playoff spot. Gordon is an otherworldly talent. Expect him to be plugged in as the X receiver and start ripping cornerbacks to shreds. We're on board with firing Gordon up as an immediate WR1.

I can no longer contain my excitement. I held him all year hoping he would be the edge I needed come playoff time. I am praying it was worth it.

I agree most owners will start him, and unless you have other great options that makes sense. But I still think people are expecting too much.

Cameron Jordan is still not practicing, and could easily miss another game (or the rest of the season, or even his career).

For a little reality check, see DMD's projections, 5-80,1. Well below his return in week 3 last year.
