Brian Hartline and Harry Douglas released

HD and BH being cut basically is a foreshadowing of the similar type WR players you'll find deep into the WR class this year and for many years to come. Unless you can become special with those average tangibles, the clock is ticking faster now.

3.5M on a guy who has shown you his upside compared to a Baldwin or Kearse guy for the ex-Seahawks coach. You might find a HD replacement as an UDFA for all we know. Hester is cap friendly and a HOF return guy.

Good move.

Hartline might be a mistake for know it all Joe.

Care to elaborate? Browns horrible offense and lack of a good QB?

How relevant was he in Miami last year when the team stopped using him much?

Hartline thrived in 2012 and 2013 but didn't suit Lazor's system last year. He got open a lot less which obviously meant he got less targets and then had a problem with drops which was more worrying so he got overtaken by Landry for the short to medium routes.

Cleveland seem to always pickup some decent WRs in recent years like Hartline, Hawkins, Bess, Austin etc but in fantasy terms they aren't really relevant. With Josh McCown coming at QB and no Josh Gordon I have little confidence in Hartline producing worthwhile numbers.

Thanks, absent any detail it just sounded like a "Browns suck it where players go to die" kind of post. I'm still not sure what to make of the Browns offense, many things remain in question (QB starter, OL changes, RB, more WR/TE signings).

Hartline tends to thrive when there is a big threat on the other side of the field. Like Brandon Marshall and Mike Wallace (except last year) in Miami, if Gordon was around then he may be of interest next year.
