tazinib1
Maybe Ruasell Wilson could learn something. http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/story/29447718/former-mlb-player-bobby-bonilla-still-getting-12mil-paycheck-from-mets-years-after-retiring
stevegrab
Cool story, depending on the interest rate and what you would do with a lump sum, taking the money later may or may not be good. And if it is delayed several years first, you need a better return. Also do they still pay your estate if you're not alive (presume they do, but you need to make sure all that is addressed). And what does Russell Wilson need to learn from this? Has he made poor contract decisions or been irresponsible with his money? PS Can the mods change the title, to read contract
tazinib1
You don't get to change my title or context buddy. Who made you a forum mod. Josh Gordon and Johnny Football have nothing to do with it.
millworkguy
Check out the st Louis spirits of the abl. When the nba merged with the abl, it was the last team to make a deal. The brothers who owned the team stopped getting checks only a few years ago after having gotten almost 260 million from the nba from 1976 to 2012 Edited July 1, 2015 by millworkguy
Zooty
http://www.cindrich.com/category/contracts/ Bill Fralic November 5, 2014/in Contracts /by BaAdmin Fralic 1985 2nd pick in the 1st round by the Atlanta Falcons Highest paid offensive lineman with a contract higher than that of Bruce Smith (the 1st pick) and an annuity valued at a minimum of $6,000,000. Every January 1st As long as Bill Fralic wakes up, he earns $150,000, and will do so for the rest of his life. Fralic’s contract, that includes an annuity in addition to an outstanding signing bonus, was a widely copied and distributed contract. Utilizing intricate tax advice and employing what was then known as a Rabbi trust to assure payment, we were able to set up Bill Fralic for the rest of his life at the ripe “old” age of 22.

PS Can the mods change the title, to read contract One of the articles I read did the math where if Bonilla had taken the lump sum and invested it and got an average rate of 8% annually in return, he probably cost himself right around $10 million. Of course that assumes he would have been disciplined enough to do that.
tazinib1
Right and that is the X factor considering the staggering amount of athletes that go broke/bankrupt after retirement. Nice one Zooty
