Such player is eligible to return to practice if he has been on Reserve/Injured for at least six weeks from the date he is placed on Reserve. He is eligible to return to the Active List if he has been on Reserve/Injured for at least eight weeks from the date he is placed on Reserve. HowboutthemCowboys
OK, I'm too lazy to look. When is eligible to be active ?
Big John
He is NOT eligible for PUP since he was injured in training camp. That would have been min of 6 weeks out. Players can't be placed on IR/DFR until the day after the 53-man cuts are made. That is minimum 8 weeks. Under no reserve list, he can be made inactive until he is ready to play. Grits and Shins
On 8/7 the Huddle reported: Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin), who had successful groin surgery Friday, Aug. 7, will be placed on the short-term Reserve/Injured list, meaning he'll be eligible to return in Week 8. On 8/8 the Huddle reported: Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) may miss only four to six weeks of playing time instead of the two to three months that was originally mentioned as his recovery time, according to sources. Foster may start the season on the short-term Injured Reserve list, which would keep out for at least the first eight weeks of the season. Huddle Up: Original reports had Foster missing 3-6 months, so this would indeed be good news. The Texans still have a month to decide whether they want to put Foster on the injured reserve/designated to return list, which would cost Foster the first eight weeks of the season. Those drafting late will have a big advantage in assessing Foster's injury and when to select him. So if he had been placed on the injured/designated to return list he would not have been eligible to return for a minimum of 8 weeks. What I missed was that he had not yet been placed on that list and in fact could not be placed on that list until the final cut downs. Easy thing to miss or forget (that players cannot go on that list at this time) but something that the Huddle staff should know and add to those player news items. I believe the news itself comes from another source, and they write the Huddle Up piece (one of the staff members mentioned that once when there was discussion of info provided in the news feed).
