Goopster24
Didn't really search so apologize if this has been discussed in the past. My home league has expressed concern about the way kickers are scored and them getting a crazy amount of points at times. Not sure how I feel about that; most of me is in the camp of deal with it. Smaller part is curious if other leagues score kickers differently, devaluing them a bit. Currently, we have this setup. Anybody do anything drastically different? Would love to see some new ideas. Thanks! Big Country
Variations I have seen: Flat 3 point per Graduated, similar to what you have Graduated, but more of a 0.1 pt. per yard type scoring (some maintain a 3 point minimum, and the extra points only come in to play for 30+ yard FGs) With all of those, I have also seen some that give negative points for missed FGs - some were a flat amount, such as -1 for any missed FG, other were graduated, such that missed 50+ yarders were 0 points, missed 40-49 yarders were -1 point, missed 30-39 yarders were -2 points and missed less than 30 yards were -3 points. Or, you can even just eliminate the kicker position from the fantasy teams.

stevegrab
We use virtually same scoring (FG over 60 are 6 points, may keep going up but never heard of an attempt of 70+). Not sure what "crazy amount of points" your league sees coming from kickers. Sure the occassional 4-6 FG game gives a huge score, but most other weeks its around 10, which is nothing compared to QBRB/WR/TE (6 pt all TDs, 1pt/10 rush/rec yards, 1/25 passing). Defenses are our super low scores, and kickers are usually right there, or TE if you have a bad one.
Goopster24
Crazy amount of points at times. And I guess I should stress at times. I am not the one championing changing the scoring. Others are. You guys in leagues that don't have the kicker position?
Big Country
Crazy amount of points at times. And I guess I should stress at times. I am not the one championing changing the scoring. Others are. You guys in leagues that don't have the kicker position? I've done them before with no team D or kicker (not in any currently)- strictly the position players. It is rather enjoyable, although I must admit that having (or facing) a kicker on Monday night in a close game can be a lot of fun(stress). It's not for the guy that tries to play the "but the NFL has it so we have to have it in our league" routine, but it's a lot of fun. No different than any other little tweak people make to leagues to give them a little added fun/uniqueness.

WildTurkey
is it really that crazy? to me it's fun week to week to spec out a kicker who might boot a good number of FG's based on the opposing D. I don't believe I've ever won or lost based on the K, but it does suck the weeks they only get XP's (why I used to never get Vanderjagt) or miss FG's. I guess if you want to try something different you could penalize for missed FG's, and that might help tame your "crazy scoring problem" :-) Edited August 7, 2015 by WildTurkey
Dolphin_Akie
I like having kickers in the league but a lot of standard leagues don't add points for misses. In a league where you get -10 for a missed XP.

Grits and Shins
If you are going to have kickers that means occasionally one of them is going to go off with 6 FGs. If this occasional blip is that bothersome then the only alternative I see is to eliminate the position.
overworkedirish
In my dynasty league, we do 3 pts for field goals, graduated so 40-49 is +1 (4 total), BUT 50+ is an extra 3 points not 2 (total of 6) because we consider a 50+ kick to be the kicker's equivalent of a TD. Same for a sack+forced fumble on defense, 4+2, 6 points.
Henry Muto
Variations I have seen: Or, you can even just eliminate the kicker position from the fantasy teams. I don't get this group think. Why not get rid of WR's or RB's ? A kicker is a position just like the others so because you have a hard time figuring out which ones will do good or your one of those people who feel like you should only draft a kicker in the last round then I say great I am glad to play against you because I want every possible advantage possible and every time when I pick my kicker 1st in a league and get laughed at then I say go ahead and laugh because I am going to draft 1 of the top kickers in a top offense. Last year 11 of the top 12 scoring kickers came from playoff teams probably just a kawinkadinke though. I won big championships both by less than 2 pts so the kicker position was pretty important there and probably was the reason I won them because I choose to make sure I got an elite kicker while the teams in 2nd place decided kickers didn't matter.
