I thought he looked really good last night and very powerful. But he probably has done little more than make the team. I always look back for a reality check:

Top rushers for the preseason

2014 - Lorenzo Taliafero, Henry Josey, Joe Banyard

2013 - Khiry Robinson, Jordan Todman, Christine Michael

2012 - William Powell, Rashad Jennings, Nate Eachus

2011 - Kendall Hunter, Da'Rel Scott, Armond Smith

Wow, that's enlightening. I wonder how many of those were against the 1st team defense. Probably wishful thinking on my part.

Pretty simple... and you can tell from DMD's list... guys that usually lead in rushing (or any statistical category for that matter) in the preseason are usually the guys that are a] contending for #2 roles and b] are behind injured or "very well entrenched" starters.

These guys usually get to start these games and go deeper into the game than the "starters". This allows them to rack up yards with the first, second and sometimes third teams.

The Lions know what they have in Bell and are getting a nice idea of what the rookie Abdullah can do for them. Zenner will be Bell insurance. So with that said, and given Bell's injury, Zenner's worth a stash.
