Doug Baldwin. Legit #1 type WR now?

I thought you asked this last week and everyone said yes - start him, he's hot.

I don't remember that I did. I was going to start him today, until Forte was the most popular answer instead. Then I changed back to Baldwin, then went back to Forte last second.

  • 3 weeks later...

Lynch was officially shelved in week 11, Graham went down the following week, and Rawks gone in week 14 game.

Prior to SEA's big injury bug, weeks 1-8, Baldwin had a total of 40 targets, 31 catches for 345 yards, and 2 TDs. Week 9 was their bye, so weeks 10-16 encompass the injuries and his stats were 56 targets, 42 catches for 678 yards, and 12 TDs.

Clearly a big correlation between what weapons Wilson/Carrol had to choose from before/after injuries. He's a good WR and Wilson is a more effective passer than I think a lot of us gave him credit for, but I don't think he's WR1 talent when SEA [should] return to a run based scheme. I'll let others reach for him early if they want next year, and start thinking about him if still available come round 6 or 7

He'll cost you a high draft pick in re-draft leagues next year to find out.

That's just the thing. I got him as a free agent and our rules are free agent signings only cost a final round pick. As well as he's done though, I agree he's still not a WR1 and I've got better options even if they're going to cost me a higher pick. Edited by rajncajn

Yeah he's worth a punt in that scenario for a keeper but he'll go high in re-draft as players who finish the season well tend to go high.

Great post, in first 8 games about 5 targets per game, catch about 75%, about 10 yard/catch. Then in the last 7 games 8 targets per game, again catch about 75%, but now at over 15 yards/catch.

Change in targets made a huge impact. Agree he is nowhere WR1 talent.

He's not a WR #1 - regression on the TDs alone will knock him out of that conversation. That said - I think he's a nice player in that offense and easily could be a solid WR3 to low end WR2. I doubt I'll get him in re-draft, but he's a solid "hold" in Dynasty unless someone is willing to overpay for him.
