EaglesSven
So my league has standard scoring and we start QB/2RB/3WR/TE/Flex/K/DST. We have to have our rosters down to 16 before the draft and I have 22 players currently on my roster, so I have to drop six. My roster as it stands: QB Matt Ryan, ATL QB Derek Carr, OAK RB Le'Veon Bell, PIT RB Doug Martin, TB RB Arian Foster, HOU RB Matt Jones, WAS RB Buck Allen, BAL RB Tre Mason, STL RB Lorenzo Taliaferro, BAL RB James White, NE WR DeAndre Hopkins, HOU WR Mike Evans, TB WR Jordan Matthews, PHI WR Demaryius Thomas, DEN WR Kevin White, CHI WR Jarvis Landry, MIA WR Jaelen Strong, HOU TE Tyler Eifert, CIN TE Gary Barnidge, CLE K Matt Prater, DET DST Arizona Cardinals DST Tennessee Titans Titans and Prater are goners. I'm leaning towards also dropping Mason, Taliaferro, White and Strong. I hate to do it tho, as I like Mason as the first handcuff of Gurley, dunno which one of Taliaferro and Allen will be the backup to Forsett (and if Forsett is gone I might like em both) and I still haven't really given up on Strong (the guy who drafted him last year did tho, so I picked him up off of waivers). Any ideas/input? Any angles I am missing?
jkraft896
I don't know which White you are thinking about dropping, but I would be really really apprehensive about dropping Kevin White. The jury is still out, but the guy looks uber talented. As for James White, no one knows what the Patriots will do but if he gets to keep his role on the offense he is worth a roster spot. How many teams are in the league? Unless its like 16 I would drop Matt Ryan. Are there any teams in your league really needing a TE? I would try trading Gary Barnidge while people still think he is a good player. The guy is 30 years old and had not had a relevant season until this year and I expect him to fade back into mediocrity next season. Try packaging him with one of your middle players (M Jones, Allen, Matthews, Landry) for an upgrade. If you can't trade him I would drop him. You obviously need to drop the Titans, Prater, Taliaferro, and Strong. If you really like Jaelen Strong you will be able to draft him next season. After them I would drop Ryan and Barnidge, but understand if you don't like that advice. I would prioritize dropping Tre Mason over James White. I think you have a better chance of securing Mason in the draft than James White, plus the upside of White is much higher than Mason. colkurtz
I agree with your original list - Prater, Titans, Mason, Taliaferro, Strong, and (James) White. Mason didn't do much before Gurley came in, and Benny ended up with more points on the season than Mason, so he's not worth much as a cuff. White is useful in PPR but very TD dependent in standard. You need 2 TEs and you have 2 good ones. One less thing to worry about.
EaglesSven
Kinda forgot about this one, but appreciate the advice! jkraft896: Yea, I forgot they were both named White. I drafted Kevin White after the injury was known (12th overall pick) and loved the pick for future value, so definately not dropping him. I have played with the thought of dropping Matt Ryan, but I kinda feel like I need a backup QB anyways so basically I wouldn't free up a spot even if I do drop him. Also it's a 14 team league, so startable QBs are few and far between on waivers. One guy has P. Manning, Osweiler, Jameis AND Tyrod Taylor tho, playing with the idea of offering a bundle of backups for Taylor. Same argument really with TE, I feel like I need two on the roster so dropping Barnidge does me no good. But I like the idea of trying to trade him, so will look into that. For who to drop first of Mason/J. White, I'm starting to think that's moot as I'm probably gonna have to drop both anyways colkurtz: Basically the only reason I'm considering keeping White is because you never know with New England. That being said, they did pay Dion Lewis (kinda) so as long as he's healthy I'm not seeing White even being active on gameday.
