Christine Michael.. Is he REALLY getting his sh*t?

I love Bill Belichick running backs. I love Mike Shanahan running backs. If you draft one early, you have no one to blame but yourself. Christine Michael currently has an adp of 215. I'll spend $2 on that Powerball ticket.

Christine Michael starts, shines against KC

Christine Michael rushed seven times for 44 yards in the Seahawks' preseason opener.

With Thomas Rawls (ankle) inactive, Michael started and put up 27 yards on Seattle's opening drive. He looked explosive as always and, perhaps more importantly, did not make any big mistakes. Clearly ahead of rookie Alex Collins, Michael would have considerable fantasy value if something happened to Rawls.

I am a fully recovered Christine Michael-holic. It took me a while to get him out of my system but I finally did it. I will not even draft him this year. I have 0% faith in him ever being fantasy relevant.

Hopefully the payoff...if you want to call it that, is that it *may* drive Rawls ADP down a hair giving him some value. CJ Prosise is a deep, deep sleeper but if something more egregious is up with Rawls ankle, and CMike turns into typical CMike, he may be a value pick with your final few flyer picks.

I thought he was as good as done when Seattle drafted 3 RBS. The local buzz of him staying on the team is real. I've blasted idiot like tendencies before. He actually put the ball in his left hand when defensive pressure came from the right. Sounds trivial, but he never did that in game action until today. 6.3 yards per carry and he seems to be letting brains catch up with athleticism.

Christine Michael will almost certainly never live up to the hype but ....Dallas traded Seattle a draft pick for Chrstine Michael and Seattle got him back for free. One organization is well run; the other is a bit of a clown show.

It was a conditional pick - conditions weren't met so no pick was traded.

This is the perfect situation to gamble on because the price is so low. Take him with you 11th round pick while some teams are thinking about kickers and defenses. It probably will not happen, but Christine Michael could possibly end up taking over that backfield and if he doesn't, drop him and pick someone up off waivers who is every bit as good as anyone else you would have gotten in the 11th round. He is definitely a stash guy to Target.

Good point.

Or they could utilize both him and Rawls and it turns into another ugly RBBC like much of the league.

This. Rawls is no shmuck, and they didn't draft Prosise to sit on the bench all game. This might quickly become a RB situation to avoid.

take some of that

Here's how Seattle came about acquiring those nine picks: Seattle made trades to acquire safety Kelcie McCray (using their 2016 5th rounder) and cornerback Mohammed Seisay (using their 2016 6th rounder). However, they did pick up an additional 7th round pick from Dallas for the Christine Michael trade. They were awarded three compensatory picks as well

Seahawks full Draft 2016:

Round 1: 26th overall

Round 2: 56th overall

Round 3: 90th overall

Round 3: 97th overall (compensatory pick for Byron Maxwell)

Round 4: 124th overall

Round 5: 171st overall (compensatory pick for James Carpenter)

Round 6: 215th overall (compensatory pick for Malcolm Smith)

Round 7: 225th overall (acquired from Dallas for Christine Michael)

Round 7: 247th overall

Damnit i was wrong. Shows what i get for trying to defend the Cowboys

(article is from last year)

If the reported terms of the preseason trade that sent running back Christine Michael to Dallas are accurate, the Seahawks should get a seventh-round pick in return even though he was waived on Tuesday.

Seattle traded Michael to Dallas a week before the regular-season opener in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick. The condition, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.com, was that Michael had to be on Dallas’ 46-man game-day roster at least three times this season. Michael appeared in five games – gaining 51 yards on 15 carries – which means that condition was met.

A seventh-round pick isn’t all that much in terms of draft capital. But the Seahawks did well to at least get something in return for Michael as opposed to getting nothing had they waived him instead.

For what it's worth - Michael started again tonight and had 3-4 drives as the starter with Wilson et al and continued to look impressive. Michael cut a route short on a blitz play and caught a pass on a hot read. He continued to actually switch the ball in his left hand on runs when defensive pressure came from the right. These actions sound trivial, except this preseason is the first time he's done such things in his career.

Rawls is still in street clothes so who knows; but early indications would make one think a RBBC isn't implausible.
