frenzal rhomb
I know the guy is a great talent but anyone concerned about his meltdown last year in the Carolina game - anyone think his weakness has been exposed and could be an ongoing problem? Shaft
Nope! And a lot of people are forgetting he missed a game which could have easily added another 100 yards and maybe a TD to his season . And the young man is ONLY 23!!!!
gilthorp
It might be worth discussing whether you sit him against Norman in their first meeting of the year if there are better options you have.
Shaft
It might be worth discussing whether you sit him against Norman in their first meeting of the year if there are better options you have. To me that's a dream start for a first game. They're both going to bring their "A" game. It's very little to lose, from a fantasy perspective, in the first game. Norman dominates the line of scrimmage with his physical style, but in the open field it's OBJ all day. I drafted OBJ in one league and am looking forward to that start. Â And what better options would you have than OBJ on the first game? Did someone trade for Brown, Jones, Green, or Hopkins and still keep OBJ? Ramhock
Took him in the 1st round last year in all 4 leagues, as high as #2 in one PPR league. I don't advise putting all your eggs in one basket but I may do it again. Don't care for the nonsense but it may be part of what makes him tick. darin3
It might be worth discussing whether you sit him against Norman in their first meeting of the year if there are better options you have. Â If you're debating whether you should sit or start your 1st rounder (a high first rounder at that), then there's something wrong. You never sit OBJ. Ever. Â And really, what other "better options" would you have? Maybe you go WR-WR-WR (which is less than desirable to begin with) and only need to start 2 WRs.... even then... no. darin3
+1. Norman without Carolina's line and in a new system doesn't scare me one iota. Â Yeah, didn't even bother to mention that. Norman is good but without the support of the rest of that killer D he's probably not the same guy.
gilthorp
It's all a dice roll. Â I guess you all know exactly how NYG's offense will be this year with a new crew. Got it.
gilthorp
To the OP. I am not sold on his maturity level and don't know enough about how a deeper WR talent level this year is going to change things for him. Add a new HC (probably with the same system) he is a risk at a high pick. Â I won't own him but I don't play in a ton of leagues. I had him the last 2 years in my local and watched him closely. Â He can take any ball he catches to the end zone so his lack a maturity will come from getting frustrated but there aren't many CB's who can man up with him. Norman is one and that first match up will be fun. Â He is the type that if he doesn't get fed, he will baby it out and that's the larger worry if he would continue to act bigger than the team and he's proven to be that type of guy. darin3
Â 12 assistants kept - wasn't aware of that. Interesting. Â And most importantly, Ben McAdoo from OC to HC. No other changes other than the red-faced one out. Â Cruz in the slot and a sharp route-runner in Shepard will take some heat of OBJ too. SoxBandit
Cruz in the slot and a sharp route-runner in Shepard will take some heat of OBJ too. It is exactly this point that I have moved OBJ down my rankings a bit. Â I think OBJ draws significant double-coverage until someone gives the defense reason not to. Randle wasn't that guy last year. This year, I see Shepard and Cruz each having solid years, and Manning being smart enough to throw to them versus forcing the ball to OBJ, like he has had to over the last couple years. Â OBJ's stats have been a bit high the last couple years because Manning would throw his way due to not having a lot of other options (and OBJ would win a decent share of those 50/50 balls). JMO, but I think there will be a lot less 50/50 balls this year, reducing his opportunities.

That's not even taking into account Cruz's reputation for dropped passes.

That's not even taking into account Cruz's reputation for dropped passes. I think Cruz, Shepard and Jennings (a receiving-capable RB who will be more of a full-time RB for the Giants this year) will reduce his opportunities, and thus reduce his stats. I think he'll still be top-8, but not top-3.
