Good idea?

What if yahoo allowed you to "rank" your pickups as well as your drops? So, you could just choose one player to potentially drop, and then rank the two pickups you'd like. If the first guy gets picked by someone else (who had a higher priority) but you had priority on the second, you drop the guy you want to drop and get the 2nd guy. And if you ended up getting the first, you wouldn't get the 2nd since you wouldn't have anyone cued up to drop.

It just drives me nuts to want to pick up two potential game-changers from waivers, but to only have one guy that I want to drop. I would choose to drop him for one guy, who would get picked by someone else with higher priority, but then I'd get the 2nd (who I liked, but not as much as the first) and lost a player I kind of wanted to keep while keeping the guy I didn't mind dropping.

I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about as I still primarily play in both ESPN and Yahoo. ESPN I now use an auction format for WW claims, but last year we used a worst to first method which sucks if you ask me. But - there's still a way around this..

Say I have Danny Woodhead and I have the 3rd waiver priority. The guys I want to pick up are Charles Simms, Jerrick McKinnon, and Matt Asiata. and in round 2 I was hoping to get Dwayne Washington (not gonna happen - but this is just an example)

I would submit waiver claims as follows :

#1 Simms > Woodhead

#2 McKinnon > Woodhead

#3 Asiata > Woodhead

I can stop there for round 1 as I'm guaranteed at worst Asiata

Lets say if I get one of my first two choices and still want Asiata, I can then submit my next claim as

#4 Asiata > Tavon Austin

#5 Washington > Tavon Austin

so on and so forth.

So you can still submit multiple claims for the same person, it's just a bitch to set it up as you have to enter a lot of claims for the same person and make sure you have your priorities straight.

Still better than MFL if you ask me (haters gonna hate). I will never understand why we pay $70 for a yearly redraft with nothing special when you can get the same thing for free on one of these two sites that have better mobile apps at that. MFL blows for yearly redrafts..

They're exactly the same in terms of waivers (well kind of, MFL can do conditional or non-conditional waivers so its your choice instead of the hosting system's), so not really a fair statement. You do seem to go out of your way to bash them at every chance you get.

I only play in redrafts - and I still don't get the point of paying for a site to host a league - especially one who's mobile app blows. Outside of some pretty skins and a slow draft - I fail to see the value in it. I'm a cheapass so if I wanted a slow draft, I'd use a working google doc to which everyone can access or email.

If I were that much of a junkie and played in dynasty leagues, I get the point of it - but I don't, so I'll continue bashing them for yearly redraft leagues at least until they get a worthwhile mobile app. Hell - even trying to make a waiver claim is a pain in the dick. I know who I want to target regardless, but I don't have to click a menu and then a bunch of sub menu's only to have them sort the list either alphabetically or by YTD points. To each their own, but to me it seems archaic.

In this specific thread there was no reason to get worked up cause they are all similar in terms of how waivers are listed. I can bring up numerous reasons why Yahoo, ESPN, MFL, and CBS all suck for all types of leagues. I can also bring up numerous good reasons for them too (except CBS).

sadly I understood this post and agree. One thing I hate about Yahoo waivers. ESPN is the same way.

I do know that this is not an issue on MFL.......I'll wait for the haters

Not an issue on CBS either, I just make multiple waiver claims (and can change their order once I make them).

add player 1 drop player X

add player 2 drop player X

So ESPN and Yahoo won't let you do this? Or it is just too complicated?

I was talking to a co-worker today who mentioend one of those stupid "cannot draft lists" in some random online league. Another poor setup for the masses who want to play in those leagues or use free sites.

MFL sucks

Been trying for years to implement this in my local. Was cherry picking for the first 20 years, then switched to worst to first for last year and this year. Soooooooo stupid. Gonna push REAL hard for BB next year.

On topic, I have leagues on MFL and the waivers are clunky. Yahoo is ok, but exhaustive.

I find ESPN exhaustive with the waivers too, have to go to the Player list, find the person, hit add, choose who to drop, get brought to my roster, only to go back in the player list and find the next person, hit add then, who to drop, then find that same person to again hit add, choose an alternate on who to drop in case both waivers go through....sure you get the picture.

GUH so bad! Like the OP's idea, be interesting to see how it works.

ESPN and Yahoo don't let you make 2 different claims on the same guy. That is I can't put in a claim to Drop Joe Montana and sign Phil Simms and another request to Drop Jeff Hostettler and sign Phil Simms.

If I pay $70 for MFL, I can do it.

it does. I just set my waiver claims in one league. Where I have a combo of 4 different claims for C Simms - all in the same league

I got rejected on ESPN yesterday. It deleted the first claim when I put in a 2nd claim on the same guy dropping a different guy. I remember having issues with Yahoo last year.

There phone apps are also awful BTW. I have no idea how anyone can do anything other than make line-up changes with a phone app.
