How good it Minn defense

The way Zimmer has built the D Line and all the substitutions he does has those guys fresh and they just wear you down... Def backs played better as game went... mainly due to Def line pressure IMO. But overall they just keep coming and coming.

It also helps that a punt return TD count for the Def/ST in most formats.

Go Vikes!

It's really rare to find a combination of young talent and discipline, but that's likely due to Zimmer's no nonsense style of coaching. It honestly shouldn't really be a surprise at this point. Ever since he took over in MIN in 2014, the defense went from bottom 5 to I believe 11th in 2014 and 5th in 2015, and they haven't had any changes to the team really. He's coached every position on defense and typically runs 4 d linemen. Most of the talent is amongst the front seven, and the FS Harrison Smith who can provide enough pressure and play smart in Zimmer's disguised packages that let them roam the field to confuse the qb. The cornerbacks are probably the biggest weakness.

Had them in fantasy last year and they were great. This year I watched as owners were drafting the presumed top defenses (CAR, SEA, ARZ, GB, DEN) were some I recall taken pretty early. Then I circled Vikings on my defense ranking and waited a couple more rounds before I got them. Right now they're 1st overall in my league (pure team D no ST), several of the top 10 are available, including Bills (3) and Eagles (5).

He hasn't been playing much. MIN usually runs a 4-3-4 defense which only leaves room for 2 CBs. They have a lot of depth at CB between Rhodes, Newman, Waynes, and Munnerlyn and all of the games have been pretty close so he has not had a shot yet.

If Anthony Barr was on a different team, he would probably be considered one of the best linebackers in the league. But on the Vikings he's just another player on a good team. They have other very athletic, fast to the ball players on the squad to play beside him. It is definitely a team defense in Minnesota and that is why they are so good.
