1fastdoc
I know other players have had plenty of concussions but I don't know specifics other than news sound bites. Obviously, cumulative concussions seem like they'd have an impact but do they in reality? Is the downtime longer with subsequent episodes? When they return is it business as usual or do they often face a reduced work load by the coaches? Thinking in particular about Reed I'm wondering about his long term stock. Def.
I'm just going to sum it up as not good, and sell high in dynasty (if you haven't already).
Dolphin_Akie
Well long term stock is low with repeated concussions because guys like Reed or Jordan Cameron could be just one concussion away from retiring if they think their health is in danger. It can come down to the severity of the concussion in individual cases and how quickly they recover.

1fastdoc
In all seriousness, I really believe you know the answers to your questions. From a medical standpoint, certainly. But I also know that problems can go undiagnosed for years and people can look fine. So far the literature supports returning to full activity (and risk) if they are medically cleared. In the past the issues, even when present, were ignored. I'm wondering, with all the new data, CTE, player suicides, etc, if the NFL has an unwritten stance on injuries. For instance, would WAS consider sidelining Reed or reducing his carries due to medical risk or would they play him regardless if the doc says it's ok. I'm sure other teams have already set some precedents, I just don't know anything about prior concussed players.
Apothus
I've had 5 concussions and struggle with headaches, dizziness, blurred vision and other fun crap. I stand at a computer all day long and it's tough. I can't imagine trying to play football
pun
I can't say I have much to base this off of, particularly the medically component, but I just have a really difficult time believing the redskins locked reed up long term knowing he's just one concussion away from potentially having to retire. The only other repeat concussion player who's been affected by it long-term that I know of is welker, but he had 3 concussions in a 9 month period. I don't know, but I'm guessing that having repeated concussions without full recovery in between raises the risk exponentially. The news today seems positive (seems to be hinting that it's not season/career ending anyway). The fact they went to an independent neurologist, the fact that reed is so important to their offense... makes me think (well, maybe hope is a better word, lol) this will not be like welker and they'll probably allow him to return when he's comfortable/cleared. Apothus
1. Fell off a couch landed forehead first 2. Bounced my forehead off a wood floor 3. Had a ball kicked at my feet and landed head first on the asphalt 4. Head met concrete during play time at school 5. Roller hockey smacked my head on the rink
MTSuper7
I seem to remember reading an article about Priest Holmes' life after football sounding pretty rough because of the physical toll which included multiple concussions. Dude sometimes can't move his legs when he first wakes up and just has to lay there waiting until they'll work.

It's so they are absolved of culpability so the only way WAS or another team will use decreased reps is if they feel it puts them in a better position to win. At the end of the day for the NFL and teams it's all about wins and $$$ and not always in that particular order.

Randomly falling over while walking a straight line is usually good for a laugh sometimes. Like, "what the hell was that?" The part that makes me angry is when there is a word I want to use, I know what the word is, but I can't make my mouth say it.
stethant
Depends on how old you cats are and how bad the memory problems are. If they're minor this could be normal aging. Stress can affect memory too - just too much to think about to keep everything lined up straight. If other people in your life are noticing a change then head to your doc and see what they think. Can't hurt and it might give you some peace of mind. FFL-wise, I would be pretty worried about Reed. Five concussions in 3 years in the NFL, or something like that? Hopefully he comes back soon but if you were selling I would not be buying, despite his talent. Edited October 16, 2016 by stethant
