Breaking down Dak's game.

I've been trying to figure out where might Dak be exposed but just don't see where his game would drop off. Now we've seen flash in the pans before. Players like RGIII, Geno Smith, Fitzpicktrick, and Kap but they all had flaws you could see early on. RGIII an egomaniac who made poor decision and his only touch was the deep ball. Geno is missing it between the ears, accuracy and touch. No poise in the pocket by either. Fitzpick is just schizophrenic with the ball. Kap has no touch on the ball at all. Everything is a cruise missile with him plus has no accuracy or poise in the pocket. He can't read defenses and get the O in good plays and once you take away his legs he's done.

Now Dak you see it all. Big strong, stands tall in the pocket with poise. Plays smart with the ball, reads defenses, protects his receivers, extremely accurate, and can throw accurately on the run, in the pocket and off balance. Has learned this offense so well he can run the 2 minute drill to perfection already. Has the smarts to know game situations. Confident enough to oke-doke a defense while substituting for a free 5 yards. Can make the touch pass with pressure in his face. Can drop a dime in the end zone, over the top or down the sideline. But the most impressive thing about this kid is he understands coverage and he realizes he has 3 downs. Meaning he is willing to throw the ball into the ground and live to play another down. Thus protecting his receivers, and the ball. How many times have you seen a QB avoid pressure by throwing a hospital ball to a player in the flat or over the middle for minimal gain, just to see him get blasted as soon as the ball arrives by the defender. I always said, you ass, why get your guy killed like that? You saw the defender playing just off enough to invite a big hit and you throw the ball just to save your own ass. I always wait for the guy to get up and curse the QB out like "what the hell you do that for?" Throw the ball away damnit.

The only thing I can see effecting his game is injury, or stardom going to his head. Of course a solid running game helps take a lot of pressure off but still. The kid has IT and it's obvious to see.

Any of you see any flaws in his game that I overlooked?

The kid is a phenom and I'm glad he's a Cowboy. No question he is the real deal. Makes it look easy while having a humble nature and is easy to like.

I still say Romo has earned his Elway/Manning moment this year but if Dak keeps this up it will be hard but I would still give Romo his respect and a shot at the title. Something tells me he will get his shot. Whether it be Dak getting nicked up or something serendipitous happening so Romo gets his shot.

Hey, if the actress/fitness model/target of my obsession played professional football, I'd make a page-long post about her perfection too!

You go Cowboyz1, maybe someone will link this to Dak and he'll invite you over for some "game film & chill" time ;-)

Sorry didn't read the latest love letter to a Cowboys player...

So I watched the game yesterday, interesting that Mr. Perfect Dak had an interception and 2 fumbles (1 lost) in that game. I'd be concerned about that, the one that DAL miraculously recovered where he fumbled while scrambling looked odd as his own leg knocked the ball out of his hands while he ran with it and hit it.

Two turnovers, almost a third. Sure they blew out the Packers but the 4 turnovers by GB and Rodgers tossing balls 2-3 feet off target all day sure helped that.

Yes he's good, but he's a rookie and made some mistakes in that game, overshadowed because GB/Rodgers made more mistakes.

Good point but I don't see him bouncing the ball off his leg again probably ever. The fumble was a great play yet again by Pepper as the result of the poor feet of Doug Free. Sure the pick was a pick and a poor one. We'll see but the kid looks for real.

He does indeed look for real, but I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Eventually defenses catch up to rookie phenoms, especially QBs, so every week is a "huh" moment as Dak continues to do well against increasingly difficult NFL teams.

The only thing left to do is to blitz the hell out of him. See how he handles being hit late and rushed. He's proven he can read defenses, go through his progressions calmly and moderately quick for a rookie, and is accurate when pulling the trigger. With the Running game the way it is and with 3 quality backs in the stable as backup, the only thing left is to take his time away. Which is seems like a fine idea but the O line is great at blocking up the blitz and Zeke is deadly picking up the free blitzer so that too is very risky.

Then there is his legs which if teams don't get there or worse miss, he's down the field with a secondary with their backs turned in singled up coverage.

The kid poses a variety of problems for coordinators already and I don't see it getting easier the longer he succeeds and the more experienced he gets. Truth is, Dak is as darn near a perfect rookie QB right now. He's everything you could want in a Rookie signal caller. Better yet, he's winning.

Dak has played against teams with a combined record of 12-15; yes I understand Dak has a lot to do with that. A winning record is what decent teams are expected to do on a year in year out basis. Cowboys have almost done this a half of one season against teams with a questionable record as whole.

Let's not start sucking each others dicks just yet.

However, John Clayton is someone who I respect; and he's given the thumbs up on Dak's in game preparation and dealings with teammates. These are things that go a long ways; I'm actually excited to see how this plays out.
