applesaucebauce123
What's the better route? Right now I'm sitting on Eli Manning and Carson Palmer... and I have Dan Bailey, but because he's on BYE I put in a bid for Matt Bryant. I don't want to hold on to 2 QBs and 2 Kickers..... so.... In your opinion is it better to go week to week on Kickers or QBs? (I'm a first time FF member, for context... so I'm sorry if the answer is obvious )
Montana is da Man
The only time I have ever carried two kickers on my team, for 1 week max, is if I have Gostkowski as my K and he's on bye.
CowboysDiehard
I never carry more than one kicker, and I always draft them last or next to last round. Gostkowski might be the only one I consider holding over the bye week. It makes sense to have two or three decent QBs on your roster if you're streaming. If you don't, and opponent can cock-block you. Also, there are no guarantees in any given week a solid streaming option is available. HowboutthemCowboys
One K is plenty. If I have 2 I inevitably play the wrong one

tdybaz
I usually stream both the first 2-3 weeks, and then I check waivers to see what kickers are doing the best in points, etc, and I pick one kicker and stick with him (for the most part) through the year. Example, this year I drafted a kicker (I forget who now), and after week 3 I checked and Vinatieri was kicking ass and available, so I picked him up and haven't looked back. When his bye comes up week 10, I'll pick someone up for that week, and drop them the week after and continue rolling with Vinatieri. That's just my way, but it seems to work out. I draft kickers late, and every year it seems there's a kicker or two who just do outstandingly out of nowhere, and those are the ones I usually pick up after 2-3 weeks. tdybaz
Lol no pun intended After weeks 2-3, I pull up the players and go to kickers, then select "all players" (not just the ones who are available, so I have proper context), and click on "fantasy points" to line them up according to that category. At the time Vinatieri was 3rd or 4th in my league in kicker fantasy points, yet was a FA, so I immediately dropped my crappy kicker and picked him up, and he's been #1 for several weeks now. That's how I determine which ones are "kicking ass."

Just wish Eli and Palmer weren't so bad right now! Thanks again!
stevegrab
Gostkowski is ~13th highest in K points so far this yr by the way Name recognition, the same thing that got people taking HOU, SEA, CIN and other defenses early while I waited and grabbed the Vikings. I don't generally stream QBs, I have one who is much better and starts most weeks other than bye, injury or a bad matchup. This season I had Eli as a keeper, drafted Cousins and Wentz, was doing some streaming then dropped Eli and will probably start Wentz most weeks (but not this week against the Vikings). I only carry 2 kickers during the bye, generally draft a good one, add one to cover the bye and then drop them. That's what I'll do again, no way I'm dropping Vinatieri for some middling kicker the rest of the way. We charge for roster moves ($2 per player added) so most teams don't stream an position, but few carry 2 K/D other than to cover bye. Dawgpound23
I stream QBs pretty frequently. I've also been streaming TEs and K's every single week so far this year and have done pretty well.

I dropped him and he was snatched up by the Ben owner who has Dalton as his other QB. I play him week 8, luckily both Ben and Eli will be out. applesaucebauce123
play whichever kicker faces the Giants. repeat. this week, Greg the leg Zuerlien. Interesting... I see that Giants gives up most points to kickers.. but is this reliable info? I thought it was better to stream kickers based on who you thought was going to win and score big. Not XP's like you would see in a touchdown heavy blowout. You want a kicker on an offense that's good, but not too good.

Similar approach but I don't draft a kicker at all. Instead I grab an extra speculative WR or RB. Kicker's production value makes little long or short term difference and depends heavily on other factors, like teams that can consistently get half way down the field. This year I made an exception in one league and drafted Gostkowski so I wouldn't have to bother with putting time into streaming. I dropped him 3 weeks in for Vinatieri and will keep him for the ROS. I may not bother using a K at all when he's on bye. As far as QB's go, depends on the size of the league. Everyone in mine picks up at least 2 so the streaming options are not good and you'd be hoping for 18 pts where most of us expect 25+. Might get lucky but I don't think it's worth the time investment and it's all still open to random chance. Next year I'm considering drafting all the top QB in the first 5-6 rounds and then trading to pick up a good WR/RB crew.
michaelredd9
Next year I'm considering drafting all the top QB in the first 5-6 rounds and then trading to pick up a good WR/RB crew. I was in a league where a guy drafted 3 quarterbacks in the first 6 rounds. Everyone in the league refused to trade with him. I don't even think it was collusion. People are rarely willing to trade much for a quarterback.

I don't even think it was collusion. People are rarely willing to trade much for a quarterback. 3 QB is one thing. Snagging the top 6 is another. I'd have a WR1 keeper so I'd just really need a good WR1, RB1 and the right RB2. Besides, part way in, many RB2's become RB1's thanks to injuries. I'd easily trade Cooper, Evans or similar lower WR1's for a top 25+ pt/week QB if my only other option was to play Winston so similar weekly. I will add though that unless they're autodrafting, others would likely see the trend pretty quick and jump on a QB earlier. That happened this year when one guy grabbed Cam early, I grabbed Luck and then others went after QB before the options became more limited. Grits and Shins
I used to be of the mindset that I would never carry two kickers ... until I was in the playoffs one year and my kicker got hurt ... waivers are not allowed in the playoffs ... so I had to take a zero. 1fastdoc
I was considering it as a strategy. If I win this year again, I'll go ahead and try it next year.
