Josh Brown

I know this is going to be a very hot topic and people will have very strong opinions about this, but I feel like I needed to bring it up. ESPN has been reporting all morning about King County releasing documents from the Josh Brown domestic violence issue. It has been revealed in his own words through email and journal entries that he did in fact commit atrocious domestic violence against his wife (now ex-wife).

So Josh Brown had to sit out ONE game for his actions, which the NFL said they did their due diligence upon. Lots of hoopla coming from the NFL saying they knew nothing of the new documents, hence only the one game suspension. Why didn't they suspend him for 6 games according to the new domestic violence rules? Why are the Giants allowing him to fly with the team and play this weekend?

I'm just completely mystified that the NYG haven't cut him outright and they sure look terrible in this whole situation. Terrible, terrible, terrible handing by the NFL and the NYG, especially after the Rice ordeal.

Its not surprising. They let a child abuser come back and play.

Yep, both the NFL and NYG look like crap with this whole thing. I didn't like it, nor understand it, when he only got the one game and the Giants' owner was quick to say it's fine, it's over, we're moving on, basically. What crap. And they didn't know of the documents, of the material IN the documents, because they didn't WANT to know.

"Oop, nothing to see here, well we tried..." I hope he gets excommunicated from the NFL like Ray Rice has, even though Rice showed contrition and put his money where his mouth was.

Well thank goodness, all over NFL and ESPN were saying that the special teams coach said he was travelling and playing. The Giants seemed to have made a wise decision.

The media and a lot of people wanted instant reaction from the team.

Reports said that the Special Teams coach said he expected him to travel/play.

Then a little while later the team made the right decision.

Lots of people need to be reasonable if news is reported. Owners still need to verify before making a decision. Imagine if the reports were false (hypothetical) and the team suspend or release him. Then what?

Relax and let at least a reasonable amount of time go by.

Brown has been placed on the commissioner's exempt list.

Sounds like the Giants DIDN'T do the right thing and the NFL stepped in and did.

Either way, another kicker Thread.

I liked the "Trade your top 3 picks for Adam Vinatieri" thread better. :ball:

Just the opposite. The NFL is giving the Giants the free out so they don't have to do anything. Out of sight out of mind. Now they aren't the bad guy cutting him before getting the full story and they aren't the bad guy letting him play.

What I don't get is why is he being treated differently from Rice and Hardy? Is it because he tried to make amends by finding God, being the team preacher, and all around good guy, or is it because he is a kicker. All very sad. If it was up to me, he would not get another chance to play in the NFL, f$#k second chances for wife/woman beaters.

They've learned nothing from the Ray Rice situation. This is the type of stuff that will bring negative attention in all facets to the NFL. People will bring up race, gender, class, and etc. They need a set policy that they actually enforce.

imho, if they hadn't had video of Rice , he'd still be in the league

I'm going to slightly disagree and say if the public didn't react the way they did, he would still be in the league. It was the same thing with A.P.'s son's abuse and the pictures that came from it. It's public outcry and bad press. The NFL will do irreparable damage to it's image if they aren't more proactive.
