Looks like Aretha had the over on the length of the anthem

Roseanne Barr

 

I didn't see Barr so I can't comment on that.

 

However, Aretha flat out ruined the Anthem. I had to turn the station..... waited what I felt was a decent time so could see the kickoff.... and she is still singing. If you could call that singing. Forty years ago she was okay....now.... not so much.

 

Worst I have ever heard. Bar none.

Agree. She can sing, but that rendition was terrible.

It's one song that is best sung as it was written.

Not sure why people have to sing "their version".

 

On a better note, I really enjoyed the trumpet before the Dallas game

 

 

Totally agree. Sing it as it is meant to be sung. Stop trying to put your personal touch on the song.

You guys really don't get it. Why would the promoters go through the effort / expense of bringing in talent and then ask them to sing a vanilla version of Kate Smith. I think people want the artist to put their personal spin on their performance. Why else have them there? I would think people want to hear a heartfelt rendition and that's what Aretha did - she owned it.
