The All Bust Team 2016

I know most of us have short memories when it comes to ff production in previous years. But it sure seemed like there were an awful lot of busts this year from players taken in the first half of drafts this year that were anticipated to play pretty well. Here is my all bust team for 2016, many of which were scattered across my ff teams this year.

Cam Newton

T.Gurley

M.Jones

D.Hopkins

A.Robinson

B.Marshall

G.Olsen

S.Gostowski

Arizona D

Honorable mention goes to:

B.Bortles

D.Martin

J.Langford

J.Landry

A.Jeffrey

A.Cooper

G.Gano

Los Angeles Def

Feel free to add anyone else you think should be on the all bust team for 2016, or just discuss the weak sauce these players threw out there this year.

Not sure how Olsen is a bust. He's the #2 scoring TE in the league, in PPR formats. Since the bye (when he's been terrible, relatively speaking), he's still a low-end TE1 (#12 in scoring in weeks 8-14) during that time-frame. Right now, there are only a handful of guys I would start in front of him, and most of those are very debatable.

I'd take Marvin Jones off of the list. Yes, he has been useless for a while now. But I don't feel like he went high enough in any of my drafts to have warranted huge expectations to begin with.

Would Jamal Charles qualify? He was drafted high in spite of his injury, and played for a minute or two.

Pretty sure that was Matt Jones and not Marvin.

Since the bye week, here are his stats...

1-11

5-52 1td

5-39

4-33

4-45

3-30

4-87

That is not good and didn't help anyone win games over half a season. Imho, for where he was being drafted, this terrible stretch of games in the second half of the season, puts him squarely in the category of a bust, regardless of overall ranking.

Randall Cobb. Obviously didnt go as high as many others listed but is about WR #50 in my league despite being drafted in early part of R4.

Cooper is in the top 10 scoring for WRs in most of my leagues. That doesn't scream bust, or even honorable mention in my opinion.

Totally agree, #9 WR in my league and was drafted as the #11. I think some people are frustrated because he's a bit boom or bust week to week.

Definitely some recency bias in that selection because the last four weeks he's way down in scoring.

In a PPR, as a TE, he's been fine. I wouldn't put him in the bust category. How many TEs have been CONSISTENTLY playing better?

I suppose so, but for where he was being taken, those last 6 weeks have been putrid. I suppose considering the other options and first 5 games, bust might be a bit harsh. Plus, I needed a TE and he seemed a decent fit, for where he was being taken of course.

As bad as Olsen's second half has been, Ertz's first half was twice as bad. As in not even startable. But, I get it... It's a case of "what have you done for me lately." That said, 4-5 catches a game (for Olsen during his bad stretch) is probably above average for a TE1 in 12-16 team leagues.

Personally, I would go with Jared Cook or Gary Barnidge. Cook was the hot late-round pick in early drafts this off-season. By mid/late August, he was going several rounds earlier than he was in July and early August. Barnidge wasn't expected to repeat 2015, but through probably no fault of his own, he's been inconsistent. Too many different QB's in CLE (all of which suck), etc. Another would be Dwayne Allen (a couple of decent weeks, but expectations were relatively high with Fleener moving on).

QB - Russell Wilson: Was going to go with Cam Newton but he at least cracked the top-15, so startable in most league formats. Wilson is QB20 right now, after being QB3 in most ADP reports. Yikes.

RB - Eddie Lacy: Thought of going Gurley here but he at least is behind a suspect line with absolutely no other offensive firepower around him. What was Lacy's excuse? Lacy was RB10 in the ADP report I'm using here. Finished as RB49 in average ppg in PPR formats.

WR - "The Allens": Gave thought to going with Hopkins, but like Gurley he's been kinda "handcuffed". The Jag pair of Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns have both been so disappointing, however. A-Rob was WR6 in preseason, and is now WR39. Hurns was being drafted at WR31 and is WR72. That's a double gut-punch. I kind of predicted a Jag offensive slip but not this much.

TE - Dwayne Allen: Hey, another Allen. This one was easy. Gone was Coby Fleener, looking at a healthy Andrew Luck to start the season. Allen was going at TE14, which honestly I thought was way low. I had him closer to TE10 or even TE9. Dude's TE23 right now.

PS...Keenan Allen anyone? Injured all the f'n time. Talent is steely hard...Body soft as butter..

Strange no one seems to ever talk about Kelvin Benjamin.

The entire offense is to blame, but Kelvin was supposed to make this offense better and produce WR2 numbers with a high WR1 upside. While he did have a monster week 1 followed by a few weeks of safe floor PPR numbers, its still way below what was expected of him.

It seems like Cam prefers throwing to Ginn.

Kelvin Benjamin is a great candidate. So is Travis Benjamin.
