How to award teams each week who score a lot of points but still lose the matchup

This happens to every fantasy owner each year. Your team scores the 2nd or 3rd most amount of points, but unfortunately you lose your matchup because you faced the #1 scoring team that week.

Requesting feedback on this idea. The league operates on a "points" system. Week by week, if you win your matchup, you earn 1 point. In addition, the top 4 teams also earn extra points (#1 scorer - 1 extra point, #2 - 0.75 points, #3 - 0.5 points, #4 - 0.25 points). Therefore, each week you can earn up to 2 points.

For example, if your team was the #2 scoring team, but lost to the #1 scoring team, you still earned 0.75 points. Playoffs are decided by the teams who have earned the most "points"

To summarize: 1) you earn one point for winning the matchup 2) top 4 teams are awarded extra points.

Thoughts?

Why complicate things? thats life and FF.  Not everything needs (nor should) be FAIR

I've heard of others doing similar things in the past, where the

#1-4 seeds are the division champions,

#5 seed is the highest point scoring non playoff team

#6 seed is the best regular season record non division champion

Although it sounds like an interesting idea, I'd personally have to agree with the above post.  That's how fantasy football goes.  Sometimes you'll score in the bottom few of your league and win, sometimes you'll score in the top few and lose.

Could always just go to an All Play format - so, if a 12 team league, top scoring team for the week goes 11-0, second scoring team goes 10-1 and so on.

Rewards high scoring and consistent teams but essentially takes the head to head component out of the equation, though in a sense everyone is your head to head opponent each week.
