Charles Peterson Lynch

Why all the Lynch hate?  The guy is running behind one of the best OLs in football, if not the best.  Latavius Murray had what, 12 TDs?  Murray is an average RB.

Yes I know Lynch didn't look like himself at the end of his tenure with Seattle, but their OL has been one of the worst in the NFL (or THE worst) for the past 4-5 years.

He's playing for his hometown Raidaaaaaaaaahs and who is competing with him for between-the-tackles carries?  Answer:  no one.  Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington are shifty COP backs, not full-time backs.

Lynch should get 15ish carries a game, and even the very average Murray averaged 4 ypc behind that line.  Figure a TD every other game at worst, and you're looking at just under 1,000 yards and 8 TDs.  Figure 30 catches (conservative number based on Murray's 33 last year) for additional 250 yards.  That's 203 points, which would have been good for RB15 last year.

This is just my opinion/projection, but feel free to tell me which number sounds off.  The number of carries?  YPC?  Receptions?  Tell me where I'm wrong.  Maybe you think he won't stay healthy?  I dunno.  Lynch seems like the easy answer here based on opportunity alone.  Charles and AP will be in serious timeshares. where they're not the "1a" in the RBBC.

I think that is true of AP, but not Charles.  The only way AP can get 200 carries is if Ingram gets injured or traded.  Charles, on the other hand, has pretty weak competition.  Last year, Booker averaged 3.5 yards per carry and Anderson averaged 4.0 yards per carry.  There were rumblings that Denver's management wasn't satisfied with the play of either running back.  Interestingly, they traded Kapri Bibbs who was their most effective running back last year at 4.4 yards per carry.

You make a convincing case for Marshawn.  I just have trouble believing that his skills haven't seriously eroded.  And while it would be valuable to the Raiders having him grind out 10-12 physical carries for 44 yards each game, that production isn't very valuable to a fantasy team.  Especially since he'll get few receptions and might not even get goal line carries since the Raiders drafted Elijah Hood, a short-yardage specialist, in the 7th round.

I won't be drafting Charles, Lynch, or Peterson in many leagues.  All three are probably destined to be on the field on a part-time basis.  All three are big injury risks or at risk of just not being good anymore.  Fantasy championships aren't won by drafting 30-year-old running backs.  But it sure would be sweet drafting one of these running backs and having him put up top-5 numbers.  I'm willing to buy that lottery ticket in the 8th round if they drop.

Charles has reportedly no guaranteed money in his contract.  I honestly think there's a good chance he doesn't even make the roster.  In my book only the Patriots are a more frustrating RB situation then NO, and that is solely because the Pats have so many.  Just never know how or if they will use the RBs in NO.  I remember reading about how little NO uses the backs in redzone a couple years ago, don't know if it's improved at all since then.  Makes Lynch the easy pick in my book, though I'm not going to go out of my way to target him either.

That leads me to believe that they'll use Ingram in the red zone since he is clearly the better running back in passing situations.  Also, using Peterson between the 20's is strategic since he has home run ability.  That is assuming he still has home run ability.  Peterson did have big play ability in 2015 with touchdown rushes of 35, 43, 48, and 80 yards.  My guess is they'll split carries from the 1 or 2 yard line in order to keep them both happy.

+1 and well said. There's risk all the way around here, no doubt. I'd put Charles #3 for his extensive recent injury history, Peterson #2, and then Lynch. I think the ceiling for these guys is RB2. Lynch retired for a reason - did he come back because he has an axe to grind/something to prove (not likely) or is bored and wants some more money? That doesn't give me warm fuzzies but if he falls I'll bite.
