Monsters Of The Midway
Click the link in my sig-line for the good stuff. Even though Adrian dropped from 49 votes last week to 42 votes this week, I'm not complaining too much. Jason White up to #2 with 35 votes (up from 11 last week). Boy is this neat! 1. Adrian Peterson (Oklahoma): 42 votes 2. Jason White (Oklahoma): 35 votes 3. Alex Smith (Utah): 25 votes 4. Matt Leinart (USC): 24 votes 5. Reggie Bush (USC): 22 votes White's gonna have to quit being so darn good if my campaign is going to win AP the Heisman. Hey Sarge...wanna tell your boy to slow down a bit? He's stealing some of the spotlight from Peterson. Maybe White and AP can just share the trophy. Back to back Heismans for White would be kind of neat though. However, a true freshmen winning the Heisman would be cool, too. Man, it really sucks having the two best players in college football on the same team sometimes. Monsters Of The Midway
Read my sig. White back to back, then Peterson back to back. White is playing better than a year ago, and won the A@M game when Peterson was hurt on the bench. Thats a big bonus for White. 544165 :bawling: But I want Peterson to win the Heisman back-to-back-to-back...
Monsters Of The Midway
well if he stays 4 yrs he has a shot. But this yr White deserves it more, imo. I love Peterson, but you got to give White alot of props right now. 544175 Hey bro, I ain't knockin' White one bit. He's been the leader of this team for the past 2+ seasons now. I'm giving him nothin' but respect. I'm just happy we've got both of the front-runners right now.
Kansas State 2000
Neither Peterson nor White will win it this year.
GOB1
Neither Peterson nor White will win it this year. 544675 I kind of agree, White won last year, then fell on his face or got hurt, which ever. AP is a freshman, not that I agree, but alot of voters look past freshman. Plus the fact there both from the same team. Doesnt Help.
Monsters Of The Midway
Neither Peterson nor White will win it this year. 544675 This coming from the same guy who said Darren Sproles was all but guranteed to win the Heisman just a few months ago? :doah: General Rules of the KState2000 Jinx come into play here. Which means, that somehow both Peterson and White will win the Heisman.

Perchoutofwater
Benson racked up those stats against inferior defenses. 546521 Most of the same inferior defenses that Peterson racked up his yards on. While I think Benson is more deserving, I honsetly don't think Benson, Peterson, or White will get it. White is damaged good in too many eyes. Peterson is hurt by those that don't view White as damaged goods, and by Benson who has better stats. Benson probably will not get it, because of Petersons popularity. GOB1
How is White damaged goods in too many eyes. his numbers are eye opening again, and most know by now he was banged up in the KSU game, and LSU was the best D in the land a yr ago. Few teams did much against him. White had to carry the show last yr, but this yr he has a running game. Leinhart doesnt deserve to even be invited this yr, and braylon edwards isnt Heisman worthy. Dont even mention the Utah QB. that isnt going to happen. It will be a Sooner or Longhorn if the Sooners votes are split and benson benefits. 546668 Edwards isnt Heisman worthy. While I honestly dont think he will win it, I do think hes 1 of the top 5 football players in America. I like Benson, but he will have the knock of never winning the big game, kinda like Manning. Whites numbers are impressive, but back to back, I dont think so, maybe. Peterson has that freshman tag, though it shouldnt matter, alot of the old time voters just wont give it to him. With all that said, and 3 of the candidates being local, the votes will get spread out and could hurt all there chances. Bush, would have a good chance if he had a position, he doesnt even get, the most carries oh his team. And Leinhart doesnt have the numbers. Who knows, until we do, I have to stick with Edwards. KevinL
I haven't seen either of these guys play and am certainly no Big-12 expert. However, this discussion has led me to look at the stats and try to compare these guys against common defenses. I'm using total yards from scrimmage and TD. (Benson is involved a little bit in the passing game with 16 catches and a TD, Peterson only has 3 catches all year). Wow I am surprised that up to this point in the season, despite playing in the same conference / division, they only have 2 common opponents: Oklahoma State: Benson (home) W 56-35, 192 yards, 5 TD Peterson (away) W 38-35, 250 yards, TD Texas Tech: Benson (away) W 51-21, 168 yards, TD Peterson (away) W 28-13, 146 yards, TD Benson Blowouts: North Texas W 65-0, 183 yards, TD Rice W 35-13, 189 yards, TD Baylor W 44-14, 211 yards, 3 TD @ Texas Tech W 51-21, 168 yards, TD @Colorado W 31-7, 147 yards, 2 TD Oklahoma State W 56-35, 192 yards, 5 TD Close Games: @Arkansas W 22-20, 201 yards, 2 TD @Oklahoma L 12-0, 125 yards Missouri W 28-20, 170 yards, TD Peterson Blowouts: Bowling Green W 40-24, 100 yards, TD Houston W 63-13, 116 yards, 2 TD Oregon, W 31-7, 183 yards, 2 TD Texas Tech W 28-13 146 yards, TD Kansas W 41-10, 122 yards, TD Close Games: Texas W 12-0, 225 yards @Kansas State W 31-21, 136 yards @ Oklahoma State W 38-35, 250 yards, TD Texas A&M W 42-35, 101 yards, TD My observations are they played similarly against their common opponents. Benson had 4 more TD against Oklahoma State, but Peterson had 58 more yards. Peterson has just 2 TD in his 4 close games, 3 of which were fairly high scoring. That is the one figure that jumps out at me from looking at the game by game stats.
Perchoutofwater
The other thing to think about is everyone knows Benson is going to get the ball, because Texas has no wide receivers, and Young while he can run, is not a real good passer. So, many times defenses are playing 8 or 9 men in the box against Benson. Over 55% of Bensons yards are after contact. Peterson has the advantage of Jason Whites arm, and Claytons big play capability, to keep the safeties out of the box. Also, Benson can is a decent receiver out of the back field. He has 16 receptions for 148 yards and a td. Peterson only has 3 receptions for 6 yards.
Perchoutofwater
And Benson only has 3 more carries than Peterson, so dont tell me opponents didnt know Peterson was getting the ball. How do you explain only 3 fewer carries and 4 fewer starts. 546972 He played in those games. Just because he wasn't on field for the first offensive possession doesn't mean he didn't play in the games. Also, I would explain it by fewer turnovers by your QB, allowing your offense to be on the field longer. The stats don't lie. Benson is the better back this year. You can wish and want all day, but that is not going to chang the fact. Peterson will probably end up being the better back in a few years, but right now it is Benson. astock
TDs are about opportunities. Benson is all they got down there and Texas will run it 4 times inside the 5 yds line. White and Co pass inside the 5 yd line, Has texas passes once inside the 5 on any down but 3rd or 4th. I dont think so . 547600 You also have to consider how many rushing TDs V. Young takes inside the 5.
