It's a three way race right now, but OU has had some very close games, they defense can't stop *** and if they continue to just barely get by teams that a #2 team should be destroying, they will lose. USC has very little competition in the Pac 10, and I can't see anyone beating them. USC is good, but I think they have been lucky with a soft schedule and a solid team could definitely beat them. Then there is Auburn, who has a solid def compared to the other two teams and they have a nasty duo with the Caddy and Brown wearing the opponents def's down. They have just destroyed all of their opponents and have played better teams then USC for certain, and most likely better teams then OU. So obviously all the homers for USC and OU will come in here with piss and vinegar and claim their team will be #1 at the end of the season, but I believe from what I have seen that Auburn has a best, most complete team this season. Fine by me. But OU has beat 3 ranked opponents on the road, one of them shutting out #6 ranked Texas. That is more impressive than Auburn beating LSU and Ga at home. As both of those teams have 2 loses now, Texas would also be undefeated if they didnt get shut out by the Sooners. Everything I have heard OU would have to lose to get jumped. In fact it may get even worse for Auburn as there is a rumor the Bowden boys coaches of Fla St and Clemson could drop Auburn out of their coaches polls completely as payback for what Auburn did to Tommy Bowden. I think that is horseAthena, but there is a rumor that coud happen. Coaches votes are secret ballot, so know one knows for sure. But Richt doesnt believe Auburn was that good, he thought his team just made too many mistakes to win. And quite frankly I believe Richt. Edited November 14, 2004 by Sgt. BLAH! Posted November 14, 2004 Share Posted November 14, 2004 It's hard to not look at Auburn and say they are #2. They put a great win against a VERY tough GA team today. Plus Texas barely pulling it out in the last second against unranked Kansas doesn't help OU's cause. It will be very interesting to see what the polls show in the next week. BLAH! Posted November 14, 2004 Share Posted November 14, 2004 Just how good is GA, they lost to a Tenn team that was spanked by Auburn and Notre Dame. I dont think the SEC is worth a Athena this yr. Who is the second best team in the conference. LSU, GA, Tenn. They all have 2 loses and none look worth a crap. Auburn is the class of a weak conference. Top end the SEC is behind the Pac-10. Id bet 3 Big 12 teams would go unbeaten in the SEC this yr. 553829[/snapback] Not that I put any stock in the ESPN anylists but Lee Corso just said that the SEC is definately the top conference in the land this year and the Big 12 is very weak. He brought up the Championship game being OU vs a team with 4 or 5 losses again. It doesn't look like they are giving OU much respect. This is definately getting interesting.
