He knows as well as the rest of the country that Auburn is the #2 team in the nation. He also knows that the #3 team in the country (USC) is getting mercy votes from last year and OU is the real #1. He's just picking his battles to make sure that OU gets to the Orange Bowl where they belong.

Is he thinking they are going to be passed in the BCS?

Why else would you come out with comments like these?  He must be getting nervous?  I still don't think it will happen, but he is evidently thinking about it.

I don't disagree with Stoops at all. He is right on the mark about ESPN. In the past few days of watching it, they have been arguing that Auburn is closing the gap on OU and that possibly OU may get jumped (AGENDA). They continue to ask the question constantly to any so called expert they can interview. Whether it happens or not is pure speculation. ESPN is very very powerful and does a good sell job. College football is the biggest business in sports. It's biggest stars don't get a penny nor do they get a fair chance to become national champions because networks choose the combatants. I have said over and over that that either of the 3 teams (and more) deserve a shot at the title. No one is more deserving than the other. Specualtion, so called prognosticators, networks, and greed determine who will play at the orange bowl. All of this without a playoff to determine. While they're at it, why don't they just say who wins?

And don't forget about the final post type:

9. But last year so and so beat so and so by xx points. And such and such conference had more/less bowl wins than such and such. And if xx was healthy we would have won, etc. etc.

Oh, and I almost forgot.............my dad CAN beat up your dad!!! :D

Eloquently put Big A !!!!! :D

I could not agree more. Regardless of what any so-called purists say there's no bigger injustice to college kids than to allow them to work all off-season and season with hopes of competing for a title shot, than to have a gaggle of hacks (85% of whom never played a down of meaningful football anywhere & the other 15%, if they did play, weren't any *** good) 'decide' who the "champion" is. IMO college football champions are all paper anyway b/c 90% of the time the two best schools aren't in the championship game. It's a business proposition sadly with the blood, sweat, hopes and dreams of college kids as the commodity that the NCAA preaches the ills of accepting money to as they use them generate revenue.

I've never been able to figure out if the bowl format is so great and wonderful why isn't instituted across all major college sports?

Then how come so much anti-OU sentiment? If the AP and ESPN/USA TODAY polls are so polluted with money hounds who simply want the best "TV Show" then we should look at a system that is completely unbiased toward "Big Money Showdown Schools". What could we use that is completely unbiased? Hmmm...oh yeah. How about a computer? Something that uses facts, numbers, and NO opinions.

Or is that not what you wanted to hear? B) Told ya Oklahoma was #1. Need help taking the foot out of your mouth or can you handle it on your own?

To the contrary, I think it is a most excellent idea. That same computer could also set the final three games of the season pitting the top 4 teams against each other with the winner from each game advancing to the third. How's that? O yeah, OU doesn't like to see two talented football teams in consecutive weeks.

I actually happen to like OU and think that USC is overrated primarily based on last years team. However, that still doesn't automatically make OU the best team in the country. I hate to break it to you, but they have weaknesses that can be exploited and will. Especially if they play USC. Peterson will have the worst day of his life in an OU uniform, count on it. And White, well if it weren't for Peterson this season this would all be a moot point. Let's not even get into playaction move vulnerability.

But I digress, I really do hope that OU marches expeditiously into the Trojan buzzsaw, just to see what Stoops cries about next.

Sounds like a fortune cookie or the morning horoscopes. Is this to be some sort of profound knowledge that a bearded midget told you atop a moutain in the Swiss Alps? You could say this about any team. I hate to break it to you but, what you've just said you could say about any team from any sport at any level in the world.

Talent wise you could put the best of USc and Auburn and OU is still superior.  White is a better college QB, OU has a better OL, Peterson is a better RB, the WR core is better than both teams combined.

Really? You did mean to add, 'With the exception of OU' to that, didn't you Monsters?

You have got to be kidding. Peterson may run for 200 yds by mid third qtr on this defense. The buzz saw is going to be the OU offense running all over that slow, over-rated D. Stoops lost last yr and didnt cry about a thing. he gave props to Saban and LSU and said this was going to be hard to forget. He still hasnt forgotten and isnt going to let this opportunity get away. An opportunity that is a Championship Jan 5.

I think you are missing the point. The problem is that we don't have a tournament. That is what is wrong. How the hell do we know who the NC is when you remove actually playing games? That's one helluva variable. Football is not an exact science and cannot be predicted by computers or humans. Tell me, how does one predict a blocked punt or blown coverage? Talk all you want about this. I happen to believe that USC would give OU or Auburn all they want because neither has faced a better team this year. Same could be said about USC's schedule.

On a separate note, Beano Cook is predicting that either USC or Auburn will lose before the bowl games are determined. He said that OU most likely won't because of there remaining games. I think it will be Alabama beating Auburn personally.

:D I love the way you dismiss USC's defense. Peterson may separate his shoulder after his first contact. USC plays on grass. OU plays on the track. Grass is slower. Has OU played on grass this year?

Facts? The computer uses facts? B)

Facts entered into the system by bias people

Last year, the computers "FACTS" said the big 12 was the strongest conference, how's that for fact :D

After a 2 and 6 bowl output, the system looks good, huh?

By the way, you just proved my point. You think they are playing on a fast track because they are that fast, when in actuallity they are playing on grass. USC looks that slow, and you make the excuse they are playing on grass.

I'm still trying to get over the fact that someone was dumb enough to say that USC is slow. Considering all the athletes they have recruited. But what do I know? Sarge stupid is NEVER wrong. Well, at least 1 out of 10 times he isn't wrong.

561511[/snapback]

On defense USC compared to OUs offense is very slow. You will see for yourself Jan 5.

Im done arguing about the topic. Fact is in 6 weeks you will all see what Im saying.

Some think OU plays on a fast track, instead of grass.

Some think Auburn actually has a vertical passing game or a big time defense because they average 9 pts a game to the worst schedule in the country.

Some think OU plays a patsie schedule when they have beaten 5 of the top 30 teams already and #5 Texas.

Bottom line is I think OU is head and shoulders better than anyone else, and OU has a chance to prove me right. Nothing you Oprahers can say can argue what happens on the field jan 5. Ill be the last one laughing while half you of you be gone, and the other half will say, yeah but such and such Big 12 team lost to such and such in the bowl game, thus the Big 12 sucks. Quite frankly the Trophies are all we care about at OU. Heisman and NC. 2 more will be added to the trophy case this year.

Do your homework TOOL!!!!!!

Memorial Stadium (Owen Filed) is grass jackass!!!!

OU played Bowling Green, Houston, Oregon, Texas Tech, Kansas, Texas, Nebraska, Texas A&M, and will play Baylor on grass. Only KSU and Okie state were played on turf.

So 9 of their 11 games are played on grass!!!! Maybe you need to lay off the grass it's making you lose your mind!!!!! :lollbar

USC is slow apparently. Coulda fooled me. Sarge, I still challenge you to watch some college football. The only one here making excuses, will be you. "Oklahoma had htere fg blocked and thats the only reason they lost" or something to that tune. The excuses will be everywhere from Sarge. "they beat themselves" blah blah blah. No pal, you lost.
