Pittsburgh to Super Bowl XXXIX

If you are a Steelers fan, such as I, this is a great article!

Source: NFL.com

"Ending New England 's 21-game winning streak was impressive. Crushing Philadelphia might have been even more so. But the Steelers biggest wins of the season were, unquestionably, against the Browns.

Those earn extra Brownie points.

Because in every year since the Browns returned to the NFL in 1999, they have lost -- and often lost badly -- to the eventual Super Bowl champion.

It happened in 1999 with St. Louis, in 2000 with Baltimore, in 2001 with New England, in 2002 with Tampa Bay and last season again with New England.

Even though they can't win a Super Bowl, the Browns are the one thread that runs through each of the past five Super Bowl champs.

Now Pittsburgh has beaten the Browns not once, but twice. The first time came Oct. 10, when the Browns pounded rookie quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, but he pounded Cleveland harder.

The next time came last Sunday, when Cleveland delivered its best shot in pregame warmups, from running back William Green.

Now Pittsburgh has gotten the shot it needed. It has beaten the team every champion must beat on the way to a Super Bowl victory.

Beating Cleveland is more important than takeaways and giveaways, rushing offense and rushing defense, points scored and points allowed.

Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, it couldn't clinch its super parade. That's because Philadelphia also beat Cleveland this season. And New England plays the Browns on Dec. 5.

So here's the bad news for the contending Colts, Broncos, Falcons and Rams. They're not even on Cleveland's schedule this season. And that means only one thing.

They're Browned out."

This proves nothing. The Browns have lost badly to a lot of teams since re-entering the league. :D

Hit the wrong key ~ that's what happens when you try to post something at 6:30 in the morning without your coffee. Thanks Big John for fixing that.

Yes, it's just a silly happenstance - but as a Steelers fan, it puts a smile on my face.

I'm sure we can find a stat that supports cheerleaders being a deciding factor in Super Bowl participants as well!
