Pennington Rumor

Another site I frequent has this as their top story...that Chad Pennington doesn't have a strained rotator cuff, but a torn rotator cuff and that he very well may miss the rest of the season.

Can't find anything to substantiate this and I've tried...but for your Pennington owners in the hunt, you may want to get some extra coverage for down the road.

Thanks, Gil - I've been trying to find some info on Pennington too, and had a feeling it might be worse than they were saying. I have him in my local, and free agency ends in two weeks, so I should pay a visit to the WW while I have the chance. He hasn't been the QB I was hoping for and I am using him as backup now.

I also wonder if he's had the injury some time, given he hasn't thrown that much all year, although that has a lot to do with CuMar, of course.

Having had both a torn cuff ®, and a strained one (L) I would be surprised if it were torn. The rehab is tough, and very long after surgery. They would have cut him already. He would be hard pressed to be ready for even next year's season. To this day, I cant throw a football, but I do have about 80% strength in it. If it's a sprain, he may still be done for the year. If there was any tearing at all, not just stretching of the ligaments, the shoulder will become a chronic problem. It will be weaker than it was before the injury. Even if he does come back, I think he will be less effective and very prone to a reinjury.
