Conflict of interest?

So I'm anti-BCS, I freely admit it. Is it possible, though, that the BCS threatens to truly injure the integrity of the game?

The 3 big games this weekend were the Big 12 and SEC Championships and the UCLA/USC game; at times, there's much complaining in interconference matchups about these refs or those refs being biased. In conference matchups, bad calls happen but are assumed to be honest mistakes.

However, in the shadow of the controversial USC/UCLA ending, I'm wondering if it's possible that crews selected by conference suits are prone to conflict of interest - after all, what possible good could come to the Big 12, SEC, or Pac-10 should OU, Auburn, or USC have been upset? I think it's entirely possible for refs to be influenced by any one of several factors - either explicit or implicit pressure from conference bigwigs, or even their own conscious or unconscious decisions - to err on the side of the unbeaten, title-game contending team - consistently favorable spots, ticky-tack pass interference calls, etc.

Just another way the BCS might (or might already have) screw up college FB. Or I could just be crazy.

Hey, nothing is out of the relm of possibility with this c r a p in college football. It is BIG BUSINESS and all about greed. I mean think about it, everyone in America wants to see a playoff except college presidents and bigwhig boosters. What we are left with as fans is teams afraid to play too many tough opponents and blowouts every week to impress the voters. I love all the excuses as to why a playoff is bad. Too many games and that it would effect the kids ability to concentrate on school. They don't give a rip about these kids, just get us to a bowl game and we get rich. I guess the playoffs in Div 2 don't interfere with the kid's ability to complete exams. Biggest travesty in sports.
