up the middle
One man's opinion. http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2002/As...CFN/Ask_CFN.htm Per Pete Fiutak of collegefootballnews.com .... I’m totally convinced that Miami is beatable by a team with a great pass rush, a great offensive line and a greater running game. Ken Dorsey hasn’t been touched in two years and if someone gets to him consistently, Miami loses. The problem is that such a team probably doesn’t exist when compared to Miami while the Cane offensive line is so good that Dorsey will always operate without having to leave the pocket. Here’s my ranking of the top teams thatd have the best chance to hang with the Canes right now on a neutral field. 1. Ohio State – I think the Buckeyes would have a wonderful shot. The D line didn’t sack Jason Gesser and Kliff Kingsbury too much, but they got to them and altered their games. The killer running game and great offensive line could contend with Miami’s awesome defensive line. The DBs are good enough to hang with the Cane receivers and the special teams are comparable to Miami’s. The OSU LBs and safeties would keep Willis McGahee from running too wild. They aren't used much, but the Buckeyes do have solid talent at receiver. 2. Texas – If the Longhorn offensive line could keep Chris Simms upright and give him time, I think the UT receivers would pick apart the Miami secondary of this year. People seemed to overrate just how good Florida’s receivers are and I’d take the UT WRs and Cedric Benson over the Gator receivers and Earnest Graham any day of the week. The difference is at quarterback where I’d take Grossman over Simms. I’m not quite sold that Texas has the D line to consistently get to Dorsey against this Miami O line. 3. Oklahoma – I still want to see Miami actually face a killer defense. OU doesn’t have the offense to hang with the Canes, but the defense would certainly make it interesting. Also-rans … Florida State – Nope. The Noles don’t have a pass rush yet and don’t have the corners. Tennessee – Not sure yet. I want to see if the D line can get to Grossman first. Virginia Tech – The Hokies have as good a chance as anyone if the DTs can hold up to the pressure of getting banged on.
Kansas State 2000
Kansas State without a doubt if Miami wasn't scared to come to Manhattan Kansas to play us.

The key here is neutral field. It is very EZ to get homered. Just ask the Buckeyes if they could tell the officials in there game with Cincinnati were from C-USA. Rooks
Virginia Tech will give them a game. I say it will be 50/50 on beating them at Miami. Before the last two years we beat Miami 5 times in a row. 2 of those times down in Miami. Last year we were 2 points a way when a dropped two point conversion decided it. Our D will play them well. It is the best secondary we have ever had, and our players get mean when playing Miami. Our Running game may be the best in college football. As long as the QB can keep the Miami D honest it will be VERY close. As for Ohio State. I bet they lose there Bowl game. I don't know why, but the Big 10 is going down with the Pac 10. I think the Big 12, SEC, and Big East are becoming the big 3 football conferences. We'll see if the Big 10 can reverse this trend. This week Tech is also going for 5 strait games covering the spread. Wish me luck. Daddy needs a new car!

From top to bottom the Big East is NOT a better football confernce than either the Big 10 or the Pac 10, this or any year.

They are a MNC quality team. VT is a pretty darn good team, but not in the same class. After that, who do you have? Pit. seems to be the best of the rest, but they barely beat UAB and certainly didn't rout Rutgers. The Big East doesn't deserve mention with the likes of Big 10 & XII, Pac-10, or SEC. Rooks
All I have to say is..... Bowl record over past two years 8-2 This year non conference.... LSU gone Texas A+M gone Marshal gone Florida gone Washington gone Does anyone from the Big 10, Big 12, SEC, PAC 10, ACC, or anyone else want to put together a list. And I chose Big 10 and Pac 10 for a reason....their bowl records are horrible. Don't start talking about history either. I am not talking about where football USED to be good! As for Tech beating Miami. We are still 5-2 over the last 7 years. And I repeat 2 points against a better team last year!
crispirons
themselves. no one else will beat them as they have been the best football team in college the last 3 yrs. too much talent and speed on both sides of the ball. they lose a bunch of players to the nfl and they fit more right in. nobody will beat them this year if they don't beat themselves.
