Oklahoma vs. Texas National Championship?

Kansas State 2000

From ESPN:

If Miami and Ohio State both fall, and Oklahoma does not, we could be looking at a Texas-Oklahoma rematch in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 3.

It's possible that we could once again have a team in the national championship game that did not even win its own division of the Big 12. Texas just needs to win the rest of its games and pull against the Hurricanes and Buckeyes. Losses by those teams -- and perhaps a small bonus if Kansas State can run the table -- should be all the Longhorns need to rise from the ashes

Two teams from the same division should not be playing in the National Championship game. That would be like two teams from the same conference playing in the Super Bowl. Even if through some skewed ranking-point system they wind up in 1-2 spots, they should not be in the title game.

I think that there are some possitives about the BCS ranking system, but I believe it is not an effective system to rank the top two teams until after all of the regular season & conference games are complete.

Anyway, this scenerio is quite far fetched.

But while were on the topic of far fetched:

It's now a slight possibility that the Maryland Terps can make the BCS again.
