Monsters Of The Midway
T.Smith will lead us to another National Title 566303 Doesn't look like Troy Smith is going to be able to lead you to even a win in the Alamo Bowl this year. Nothing has been released yet as to why but, he's suspended for the Alamo Bowl. Let me guess...he's driving a Bentley???
KevinL
Very disappointing news. I'll reserve judgement until I know more details, but it sounds more like this kid had some academic issues. Whatever it was ... it's getting frustrating.

Is OSU slipping in its ability to cover-up NCAA violations.

This does not dispell the fact that he will lead them to another title either

GOB1
I think theres a bigger picture here, I firmly beleive , where theres smoke theres fire, Just like our basketball program. Ohio State, needs to get Tressel out of there, and clean that place up. He doesnt have the greatest track record, I hope nothing happens there, but I guess we will see. i know if things were going on in Ann Arbor like this I would be nervous. I have trouble believing that Tressel is the problem here. He came from a D1A school, he makes the kids hold hands and sing the alma mater, he listens to CD's of the school band playing the fight song in his car ... he just has this squeaky clean image. There obviosly is a problem but I think it is on the academic side with guys thinking they can slack. On the other hand I could be totally wrong. Tressel's image could be just that, an image. But, until more info comes out, I have a hard time buying that.

Enjoy and draw your own conclusions. Edited December 21, 2004 by BS Miscreant

Its got to be embarassing when your coach who has this squeaky clean image is really a fraud.

You can spin it any way you want, but these stories are everywhere, not just ESPN. 624497 The NCAA investigated Clarett / OSU and Clarett was found to be in the wrong and was punished. What did the NCAA find against Tressell and the football program? Nothing. Now the basketball coach, O'Brien, he was shady and he got fired. Even though he took the team to their first Final Four in years. Again, if I'm wrong about Tressell, he can hit the road. But so far the only ones accusing him are the guilty ones like Clarett and the Youngstown mobster (Youngstown is the home of the DeBartalo family if you weren't aware) who are going down and trying to bring Coach Tressell with them. This a one game thing and nothing I'm too concerned over really..NOW it will however effect OSU's Bowl game really makes it alot easier to defend OSU offense...however the other OSU must go against Buckeye defense which is very good against the run. KevinL
Radio is reporting it was a cash payment from a booster, reported by an attorney at the booster's company. I'm sick and tired of this crap, and I hope they do whatever it takes to make it stop. Including penalties against the program. Everybody (booster, players, coaches) needs to realize it is wrong and cut it out. I want to cheer for a football team and stop hearing about this kind of scandal. theeohiostate
What a concept. You follow one team, and not waffle when they lose 3 straight. We all saw what a fair weather f*ck he is. 636409 .....and you actually think you have more vested interest in your school than i in mine ? Questions: Did you even go to OU? NO Do you even live in Oklahom? NO Do you contribute to OU? NO Have you ever seen them play outside the tube? NO Do you even have any affiliation with the school other than a hat? NO Now you may think you are loyal, but i assure you my dear brother that you are not
KevinL
What a wierd story. Clarett talked Smith into getting him (Clarett) a cell phone in Smith's mom's name. The bill came due, Clarett didn't pay, Clarett talked Smith into getting the $ from Baker, the booster. So Smith got no benefit from the $, it was to pay Clarett's phone bill which was in Smith's name.
