theeohiostate
OK, here's how this was calculated. I took each team's ranking in every year-end poll since the AP started in 1936. Once 2 polls were involved, I always used the higher ranking. Sliding scale points were awarded for every year that a team ended up ranked, and 10 points were deducted for each losing season. The scale was determined before seeing where teams ended up. NC in either poll = 100 points 2-5 = 65, 55, 50, 45 6-10 = 40, 37, 34, 32, 30 11-20 = 28, 26, 24, 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 10 21-25 = 8, 6, 4, 3, 2 non-ranked, but .500 or above = 0 points losing record for the year = minus 10 points 01. 2240 - Oklahoma (passed ND this year) 02. 2217 - Notre Dame 03. 1994 - Ohio State (passed Bama this year) 04. 1986 - Alabama 05. 1932 - Michigan 06. 1697 - USC 07. 1676 - Nebraska 08. 1515 - Texas 09. 1513 - Tennessee 10. 1360 - Penn State 11. 1165 - Miami 12. 1100 - Florida State 13. 0894 - Georgia 14. 0876 - Auburn 15. 0875 - UCLA 16. 0844 - LSU 17. 0766 - Florida 18. 0688 - Michigan State 19. 0687 - Arkansas 20. 0619 - Washington 21. 0525 - Georgia Tech 22. 0479 - Ole Miss 23. 0444 - Texas A&M 24. 0433 - Colorado 25. 0429 - Pittsburgh 26. 0409 - Minnesota Edited to add: Other schools: Clemson(388), Syracuse(367), Army(347), Iowa(258), Wisconsin(209), Purdue(145) Edited January 6, 2005 by theeohiostate

Perchoutofwater
Nice, but you are probably putting too much weight on the NC. There is 10 points difference between being ranked #2 and #3, but you have 35 points difference between #1 and #2. I think a NC should be counted as more, but probably only 20 to 25points more, unless it is a split title, and then only 20 to 15 more. Other than that, it is pretty cool. KevinL
Good job tOSU, interesting stuff. Congratulations to the Oklahoma fans on their top ranking. Oh wait, never mind, they don't come around here much these days.

Coffeeman
Cool stuff, with some surprises: LSU and UCLA - obviously some recent years helped them, because I wouldn't rank them as a long-time powerhouses. Arkansas - really-when? Must've been during the Lou Holtz years - can't remember how long he was there... Washington - so strong from mid-80's to the early 90's, but not much before or since. No Florida (the whole state) teams in the top 10.... Edited January 9, 2005 by Coffeeman

Just because we're not rude and ridiculous does not mean we're not here. 647175[/snapback] It strikes me as amusing that the Oklahoma fan that is not rude and ridiculous has as his icon a picture of a grade-schooler (preschooler?) flipping the bird. The SWC use to be ruled by either them or Tx for a very long time. UCLA went to a gaggle of Rose Bowls as recently as the 80's, 3 straight at one point, with many years of being better than USC. Coffeeman
Not exactly young, just not that up on the history of SEC. But I'm sure I could always learn a few things from a guy like you, who remembers when the leather helmets were new and when Ron Reagan was a young star, winning one for the Gipper.... Seriouisly, it's probably my time spent in Houston in the waning days of the SWC (not SEC) where I learned that Ar actually had soldi teams for many a year..... What part of LA you in? This weather sucks....
SuperBalla
LSU should be below Florida and Auburn below both...however polls don't lie...right 2001 Colorado.
