'canes2004
This could easily be the biggest game of TCU's history tonight. A great ranking, national coverage and playing another ranked opponent in Louisville. The whole year and a possible BCS bowl could hinge on tonight! AND WHERE ARE THE TCU FANS???? Man the stadium looks half full at best. Sad sad sad display. thumbs_d
Clubfoothead
'Canes 2003:AND WHERE ARE THE TCU FANS???? Man the stadium looks half full at best. Sad sad sad display. thumbs_d First cold night of the year, rain, a start time during rush hour, I believe west bound 30 was shut down due to an accident in the middle of the rush hour and still had 33,681 attend on a Wednesday night all 33,681 knowing that an undefeated season is meaningless since they won't be given the opportunity to play in a final game that matters. What do you expect? shrug
muck
That's a nice little win for TCU...although I was hoping for a larger margin of victory...
Coffeeman
If TCU doesn't schedule - and beat - 2-3 top 25 teams every year, they don't deserve a shot at the NC game, plain and simple. As much as I hate them for their polls, the computers don't lie about strength of schedule. Keeping track of all the teams TCU has played and all the schedules of the teams those teams have played, they still come in #98 for SOS. That just won't get it done. However, its probably not all TCU's fault, as other big schools might give their proposal of a game next year a cold shoulder, worried about hurting their own SOS chances if they win out. Not because of TCU themselves, but becuase of the other teams TCU plays - tricky, isn't it? embarass
Sgt. Ryan
skylive5: Sgt. Ryan: .....and TCU will be an afterthought once they get to a bowl game and get smoked by a 1 or 2 loss team from a major program. But that is the point... TCU isn't even going to get the chance to play a team from a "major" program. They could go undefeated and, most likely, be 13th or 14th in the polls, and since you need to be 12th or higher, that and a dollar gets them a cup of coffee, maybe. Nobody gives a boo about OU and their bought 14-0 season. What we are talking about is fair play across the board. There is none. If TCU goes undefeated thay may make a new Yrs bowl like the Cotton Bowl and play a team like Texas or KSU. And 2.5 mil for the best coach in the business is a small price to pay for OUs success the last 4 yrs. Only 3 loses in almost 4 whole yrs, and could be 4 full yrs at seasons end. Thats amazing
iceman717
Ok here we go! I'm a student at TCU, and feel we would get smoked by any top 15 team. Last night at the Louisville game we probably missed 25 tackles if not more. But I would still like to see my frogs get a shot (if they go undefeated), to play in a BCS bowl. And for the strength of schedule aspect of things. We can't control how teams do and how good other teams perform. We make our schedules 5-6 years in advanced. When we scheduled Arizona they were a top 5 team. We can't help the fact they suck now. Also didn't UAB almost beat Georgia, so give the boys some credit thet keep winning and thats all that matters to them.
Coffeeman
Absolutely, the players can only play their as-ses off against the guys they are facing, and they deserve a BCS bowl if they win out, but not necessarily the NC game. And if they do well, the recruiting might improve, and then things start to snowball in a good way. However, the TCU scheduling guys thinking about 2007-2010 right now better step up and put the top teams on the schedule to help TCU's chances of someday reaching elite program status... muck
Coffeeman, you didn't read all of iceman's comment, did you? iceman717:And for the strength of schedule aspect of things. When TCU scheduled Arizona, they thought they were getting a top 20 team (maybe top 10)...but, alas, they suck this year. Do you think any AD's anywhere across the country 2-4 yrs ago who was looking to schedule a tough team decided to add Northern Illinois instead of Penn State or Notre Dame? Didn't think so... iceman717
With regards to future years to come for schedule strength. In 2 years we are opening with Oklahoma or so the rumor goes so I think we are starting to move in the right direction.
Coffeeman
Ouch - don't go TOO crazy on the schedule thing all at once! Losing by less that 14 would be a "moral victory" - good luck.
Hugh B Tool
No, bad conference easy schedule = NO NADA NYET!
muck
fwiw, I've seen/heard/read that TCU may be as high as #6 in the BCS after this past weekends' results...the highest ranking at any point in a season in the history of the BCS for a non-BCS conference team. The previous high rank for a non-BCS school was also by TCU...#9 last week and in 2000.
Chavez
Looking through the BCS numbers, you notice that TCU's sched is 89th or something - however, that's not appreciably worse than LSU's (y'know, #3?) 60-something.
