KevinL
OK I have read posts about the talent of the Oklahoma 2nd and 3rd team and I am trying to understand this. I found this depth chart 2nd QB is Thompson. He is 15 of 19. Terrific percentage but not many attempts. This makes sense, the backups should be running the ball and not passing to running up the score, right? Ferguson & Bradley have 1 passing attempt each. Bradley is a WR so I'll assume Ferguson is the 3rd string QB. Is this right? K Jones & D Hickson are the #1 & #2 listed RB. They have 156 & 74 carries, respectively. Reynaldo Works leads the team in carries but did not play last week. I am guessing he's injured which makes Hickson #3. No other non-QB has more than 4 carries. (USC's 3rd RB has 59 and 4th RB has 19 carries for comparison). So which 3rd stringers is it exactly that are playing most of the second half ? Sgt. Ryan
Hickson is the #3 tailback. Works is #1, Jones is #2 Jason White didnt not see the field the whole 2nd half. He was on the sideline while 32 QB Paul Thompson ran the show Paul Thompson ran the ball quite a bit the second half as the score was 49-0 at the half and OU wasnt trying to run up the score anymore. Thompsons stats 6 carries for 79 yds rushing and 2 TDs. And the 3rd string QB did nothing but hand the ball to Hickson the last few drives until he took a knee at the 4 yard line on first down to keep the score at 77-0 The point is the whole 2nd string Oline played the whole second half as did the #2 QB and the #3 RB for the most part. Hickson the #3 RB got 24 carries for 131 yds and a TD after Jones the #2 RB had got his 24 carries for 120 yards and 2 TDs in the 1st half and the 1st series of the second half. OUs defensive starters sat most of the 2nd half OU has a super stud freshman QB Tommy Grady from Huntington Beach, CA who is redshirting this yr. Hes 6-7 with a Cannon and can actually over throw OUs fastest WR. Stoops said he hasnt an arm like this kid since hes been coaching. Ill take him at his word that hes going to be special when he finally gets a crack at the field. But the problem is Jason White is going to be back after receiving a medical red-shirt from the NCAA. Is it possible to bench a former Heisman Trophy winner for a redshirt Freshman. Not likely, but just remember this kids name Tommy Grady.... And no, White hasnt won the Heisman yet, but with Baylor and Texas Tech left on the schedule whom both own 2 of the worst Ds in the Big 12, its a lock if OU stays unbeaten hes going to win it.
