I'm not saying he's great but it was clear that he was limping all over the field and a QB can only be as good as his receivers are open. They showed time and time again tonight that the Sooner receivers were not getting open.

Congratulations to LSU and their outstanding D.

Many, many questions here. Interesting how White chose to return next year right after receiving his Heisman - a little premonition, perhaps, of impending doom? Maybe a little worried about his bad physical condition, knowing he would not be able to lead his team to victory, and wanting another chance next year?? I mean, if you KNEW that your team would win a NC title, what else is there to prove? Why else would the Heisman winner return? You can tell the coaches whatever you want to stay in the game, but he is the only one who really knows how his body is feeling.

The Heisman curse strikes again - Palmer got it too, although his is just riding pine all year, not losing his bowl game! Let's see here - of the other finalists this year, this is what they did in the bowls:

CPerry - 85 yds and a TD, and a swingin door for USC players on their way to Navarre all day; his team LOST

Larry FitzG - 5 catches, 77 yds, 0 TDs; his team LOST

EliM - 259 yds passing, 2 TDs, 1 INT; his team WON

Then there's Matt Leinart - 327 Yds, 4 TDs (incl. 1 rec'vg) against the Wolverine D that had given up only 5 passing TDs all year. Oh yeah, his team WON the game and 1/2 the NC title!

Hmmm - something's got to give.....

I don't think any OU fan in their right mind would defend Jason White. He's not the answer. In fact I think Stoops is trying to talk him into entering the draft. Here's hoping he blows out both knees walking to class!

I agree. White is no Favre! He's banged up...time to cash in the chips. I really hope he chooses to use the degree he's earned while at OU 'cause the NFL has nothing for him. Maybe he wants to stay around for another year so he can live one more "glory year" before he becomes and insurance salesman. He's our QB and I'll back him up for the simple fact that he is a Sooner but, other than that...I will just remain speechless.

Meat Face:

Looks like a freaking high school QB.  How did that guy win a Heisman?

From August through November, Jason White showed he's the perfect guy to lead a more talented, better coached team. He was efficient, avoided turnovers, and generally very successful at getting the ball into the hands of his playmakers.

In December and January, when the talent and coaching was more balanced, he was unable to be the difference-maker OU needed him to be. In each of the Sooner losses, he was outplayed by the opponent's QB, and in the process was exposed as lacking the mobility and arm strength necessary to make it in the NFL (although that part has nothing to do with the Heisman). Obviously that is what explains his decision to return to OU.

Bottom line, I don't think he could have won the Heisman playing on a lesser team than Oklahoma.

Looking ahead to next year, he'll probably do just fine again, since OU will in all likelihood remain head-and-shoulders above the rest of the Big 12 in terms of talent and coaching. Having said that, the blueprint for disrupting White and neutering this offense is now out there, thanks to KState and LSU: relentless blitzing and pressure.

It sickens me to hear other Sooners raggin on the team. Get your sorry ass off the bandwagon
Other than HDman, I don't see where people are raggin on the Sooners here. It's Jason White. Yes he did a commendable job during the regular season, but other than Alabama's good defense, what tough defense did he play against? He puts up good numbers when he can sit back in the pocket all day but once he has any pressure on him he doesn't have the mobility to try and avoid it. He's a better quarterback then I thought he would be this year but he is not the answer next year.

Try not to be so blinded by loyalty and look at it objectively.

Yes, I'm a Sooner fan but the Big 12 did turn out to be overrated this year. The two best teams he faced this year he didn't show up. As far as K State's win, the defense didn't show up either so it's not all on Jason. Against LSU the defense did show up but Jason didn't. He stood way too long in the pocket alot of the times and couldn't get out of trouble when the pressure was on.

And actually the problems started with the Baylor game which I was at. Even the lowly Baylor Bears blitzed the crap out of him and was successfull most of the time. Baylor was just way overmatched overall.

Here's part of the after game article on the Baylor game from cbs.sportsline.com

White, the nation's leader in passing efficiency, had all of his touchdown passes in the first half as the Sooners rolled up 260 yards of offense and took a 34-3 lead.

From there, however, Baylor slowed down Oklahoma's vaunted offense with a steady diet of blitzes that appeared to confuse the Sooners.

The Bears' defense, which came in ranked 109th out of 117 Division I-A teams, sacked White five times, knocked him down several more times and held the Sooners to just seven first downs and 104 yards in the second half.

Oklahoma was limited to a season-low 56 yards rushing, largely because of White's sacks.

There were even boos from the crowd of 82,117 early in the third quarter, likely the result of fans not accustomed to seeing such sloppiness from Oklahoma this season.
