That is who won a Heisman?

13 of 37 for 104 yards and two interceptions?

I don't know what I expected and I do not follow college ball all that closely, but either LSU has the best defense on the planet or the idea that White is as good as a college player can get bodes very bad for the 2004 NFL draft.

Ryan I'm a die hard SOONER fan myself.... And do agree White has done outstanding this year!!!!!! Effcy. or whatever stats he rewrote....

But BJ Symons name has to be mentioned. He threw for over 5300 yards. Thats a fu** ton.

And face it my friend the chance of White playing on Sundays probaly is not gonna happen. But I can forsee BJ getting a shot in the NFL.

And this brings up my point: If White is no-shi* the best player in College Football, and not just the trigger man on the best team in Div 1-A, then he deserves the Heisman. But please don't kid yourself or try to convince me that BJ could not have pulled the trigger for OU as well as White has if not better.

Symons Passing Rushing

Comp Att Pct. Yds TD INT Att Yds Avg TD

03Season 429 666 64.4 5336 48 21 74 140 1.9 5

White Passing Rushing

Comp Att Pct. Yds TD INT Att Yds Avg TD

03Season 238 364 65.4 3446 40 6 32 -98 -3.1 1

Whites numbers are inpresive no doubt, but how in the hell can BJ break a major Div-1 record and not be at least #2 in the Heisman race.

Only real differences in the numbers, that are in Whites favor, are the interceptions BJ threw; other than that the Pct's are almost the same, and BJ out scrambled White which is evident of his rushing totals.

BIG QUESTION????????????????????

(This relates to being the best player in College Football)

Would White have put up the same numbers that BJ did if White was the starter for Tech????And playing catch-up all the time.

Sorry man I LOVE my Sooners but White is not the best PLAYER in Div-1 College Ball...He's just not  He's just on the best team!!!!!!!!!

Sure hope white leaves!!!!!!!!!!! Thats two in a row that White chocked awayed, either by throwing picks or taking the sack... what a f'en joke!!!!!!!!!!

Been trying to make this point all year!!!! coach White needs TO GO AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked when the reporter got stoops before the half talking about the "best D in the country (lsu)", and he corrected Lynn "they're the best SCORING def in the ncaa, but we're the #1 defense"

start of the 3rd Quarter the lsu D TD was hilarious wink

I expect as much out of White as a pro as I did Gino Torretta. As a pro I think he'll make a great college player. Can you say NFL Europe or Arena Ball?

Having said that, he had a nice season and did deserve the trophy though it could have easily gone to Fitzgerald or my boy Matt Leinart wink .

Look at the list of 'best players on college football' recently:

Crouch

Wuerfell

Weinke

Dayne

Salaam

Ward

T Detmer

Ware

------

C. Woodson

R. Williams

E. George

D. Howard

That goes all the way back to '98 when Barry Sanders won it.

So, since 98 you have 4 guys who made it (but I'd put an * next to Howard, but he does have his ring); one guy who didn't even go to the NFL (Charlie Ward); 3 guys who flamed out badly (Salaam, Ware & Crouch) and 3 backup QBs. Ugh.

Jury out on Palmer.

From August through November, Jason White showed he's the perfect guy to lead a more talented, better coached team. He was efficient, avoided turnovers, and generally very successful at getting the ball into the hands of his playmakers. IMO only Larry Fitz put together a more worthy Heisman resume during this span.

In December and January, when the talent and coaching was more balanced, he was unable to be the difference-maker OU needed him to be. In each of the Sooner losses, he was outplayed by the opponent's QB, and in the process was exposed as lacking the mobility and arm strength necessary to make it in the NFL (although that part has nothing to do with the Heisman).

Bottom line, I don't think he could have won the award playing on a lesser team than Oklahoma.
