AtomicCEO
Big Man Dorey wrote an article on a different type of Superbowl pool (a variation on the old "buying boxes pool). Go read about it if you're a paying customer. If you're a cheapskate, then nyah nyah nyah.... Does anyone have any other fun contests or pools for the Superbowl? Last year we had a big crowd, but we still couldn't sell out the boxes... but we played a lot of craps, which is not entirely football related. This year, I want to try something new. Any ideas? Maybe a quickie Superbowl draft for fantasy points for the hardcore? A mini Smackbowl? A chug race?
Vet
How about prizes for predicting when the first dumb comment by a football novice who only watches one game a year will occur. Like a few years ago I was at a Superbowl party and after a couple of penalties someone asked "Why do the fans keep throwing those yellow things on the field?" Vinatieri Is God
If the party is in Boulder, you could have a pool to predict the number of people who actually showered that morning.
Dr. Sacrebleu
The problem with DMD's pool ideas, is that it still involves a hundred boxes. If you are having problems selling boxes at your party, this doesn't help. How about lots of different 'hat' bets? Write down 2 different sides of every proposition, possibly using official lines, or just doing them straight out. ie most rushing yards Phil/ most rushing yards NE. Most passing yards Phil +20/most passing yards NE-20. All tickets must be of course sold in pairs, as you need someone on each side of the prop. The fun comes from not only rooting for your prop, but talking a little smack with the person on the other side of the prop. One of which will actually have to physically pay the other person. If people are real fans of either team they can announce wich side they want to be on, as long as they can find someone to take the other side, or if it's purely for gaming purposes, the contestants pick blind. Longest FG, last TD, W/L etc... multiples are of course allowed. Or first TD props. Where all the likely players are put in a hat (including field, and no TD) 5$ (or whatever) per name pulled out of a hat, of course it sucks if you pull a very unlikely candidate (brady and someone else pulls Dillon) Last TD, etc... Pancake
If your having a hard time selling boxes then you need to lower the price per box so that its not percieved as such "hugh" investment.
