Fred Davis was about to announce He was going to be a Buckeye, when Pete Carrol takes a red eye to Toledo and talks Fred into delaying...come on Fred stay in Ohio!!!!! USC already has recruited 3 or 4 top wideouts..You will get much more at OHIO STATE!!!! not to mention be part of something you have always dreamed of "THE GAME"

GO BUCKS!!!! by the way BUCKEYE FANS!! James Bryant visits today #6 linebacker in the nation from PA. not a big need since Bucks loaded at this position but would still be a great pick up OHIO STATE maybe has 6 spots left after last weeks verbals. FRED DAVIS is the last real diffrence maker at skill position and a must pickup.

Coffeeman:

Is that really true about the red-eye flight?  If so, I'm adding this to the list of cool Coach Carroll stories.  I'm even more proud to be a Trojan fan and alum.  He's da man....

Well maybe not a red eye but a late trip to Fred's door step..This is not abnormal for coach Carrol He has done this 2 times recently. 1. Maurice Clarrett and another Big Time Recruit this year was Adrian Peterson, Carrol showed up at his door step!!! and according to Peterson made it very close to him giving his verbal to USC and Carrol would have got his man had Peterson's mother not wanted him to go to Oklahoma you could tell by the interview.. Peterson wanted to go to USC but Momma's usally win the recruiting battle. He is a good coach and has the rep that he's a player's coach. He can be a role model for you and be down with the fellas. How could you not like this guy if your a parent. Carrol is a closer and will be at USC a long time.

Actually was a Private Jet and with time zone diffrence was a long flight...If I was a kid I would be impressed!!! I think however Carrol is gonna lose this battle. USC is a long ways away from OHIO and USC seems pretty set at Wide Receiver..If I was Fred I would be thinking I would have to settle for red shirt this year and maybe get shot at some playing time next season after that... if I go to USC...However should Fred go to OSU he would be in the mix next season. Jenkins and Carter are gone..Damm shame about Drew Carter's knee waited around took his turn and was breaking out for a super senior season and boom blows his knee against Indiana "the friggin Hoosiers" anyway OSU has Holmes and couple of other wide outs that could step up but Fred gets time next season maybe serious time should he go to OSU you know Tressel is all over that angle!!!! USC argument will be they will give him a chance right away "YEA RIGHT" and USC has a great Qb coming back for 2 more years unless he goes pro early which is probaly what is gonna happen. I'm a OSU homer but I just see more opps at OSU for Fred sooner. Advantage OSU

Carroll is a joke. Hes never won anything on any level, before this past yr, and Chow was the brains behind that operation. This guy is an arrogant jackass, and thinks just by showing up on a players doorstep he will get his man. Well, Clarett was smart enough to say no thanks and OSU was nothing before he got there, and Peterson regardless of reports said OU was his first choice all along. Carrolls slick talking to try and get this kid to change his mind, almost worked. But his mother did step in and say, Adrian, for the past 2 yrs all we have heard about is OU this and OU that. Are you sure you want to commit to USC over OU. Once Carroll left his home, he commited to OU, and the rest is history.

Im just sick of this cocky ass coash from USC, thinking he can show up on a players door, unannounced and expect a commitment just because he did so. For the first time I will give credit to Clarett for sticking to his guns and going to OSU regardless of this act by Carroll. And Peterson is the #1 recruit in the country and he also turned Carroll down. Once Chow leaves, you will see this program fold like every other Carroll has been apart of in the past.

Gotta love that Pvt. Ryan - always makin s-hit up and most of it wrong. Who said he showed up unannounced?? You really think Coach Carroll would do that to the parents of someone he was hoping to recruit? And you really think he'd do that, risking all that money and time in case the family was out having pizza at the time?

Gimme a break Ryan - you are some kinda crazy...

Take off the blinders dumbass. I read an article the week he commited, that this was how it went down. Supposedly Carroll was in town visiting another kid, and decided to make a surprise visit to Adrian Petersons home. The 2 were suppose to meet, but according to one source the kids mom brushed off Carroll several times on the phone. Im sure there are 2 sides to every story, but are you calling the kid a liar.

Ill look for the link.

This just isn't true. Carroll is an excellent coach. He coached several of the #1 ranked defenses in the NFL before becoming a HC. He also has a winning overall record in the NFL with 2 playoff appearances in his last 3 years. His record with NE was something like 27-21. It's not Parcells-like, but his numbers were better than people give him credit for. Plus, had Robert Edwards before his third year, who knows if he doesn't make it back to the playoffs. I follow SC football very closely and very few if anyone in the country is better IMHO at making half-time defensive adjustments than Carroll. The fact is that Carroll just won a NC and this talk of him not being a good HC just rings really hollow now. It's simply not the case.

Yes, Chow is a great OC, but Carroll still isn't getting enough credit. He's also such a "bad" coach that he's yet again, outrecruiting the rest of the country. I guess it's just dumb luck. lol Carroll is aggressive at going after the players he wants and I'm sure the players appreciate knowing how much they're wanted by Carroll and SC, which is a big reason why we're #1 in recruiting. Instead of whining about it other people should take some notes and try and emulate some of what he's doing b/c it's working really well.

Recruiting isnt over, and Im not sure the skill players you have recruited will land you #1 in recruiting. OU is by far and away leading this category. #1 RB and #1 Recruit overall in Adrian Peterson and top 2 ranked QB. Best WR and RB in state of oklahoma as well as usual top recruits in Texas. Stoops doesnt really have to look very far to get his guys. Hes not having to fly all over the country to convince guys to come to OU. They have 1 undisputed title already and have played for the title a second yr. Hes obviously doing something right as well. Im not saying Carroll is a Athenay coach, but selling Southern Cal, the beach, sun and the weak Pac-Ten plus RB U shouldnt be too hard of a sell. The fact they just won a title, regardless if its disputed makes SC an attractive option for recruits. So dont give all the credit to Carroll for the temporary #1 recruiting class right now. Stoops had the #1 class the yr after he won the title and he doesnt exactly have the beach, year round sun, and allure of living on the coast working for him. If I was a big time recruit and I didnt know anything about the coaches, and only both teams were going to be top 5 next yr in the opening polls, Id take the coast every time over the flat lands and tornado alley of Norman. Im hardly making excuses, Ive been surprised what Stoops has been able to accomplish considering hes recruiting mainly vs Texas and that environment in Austin is amazing. But Stoops hasnt always got the best athletes, but he has turned what he had into amazing teams. Roy Williams is the biggest name to leave Norman in 15 yrs since the Boz left, until this yr with DL Tommie Harris. Stoops has exceeded expectations in Norman, and this from a coach in his first head coaching assignment on any level. I think this is why he gets the credit he does, over guys like Carroll that have been everywhere only to be just above avg until he hits the jackpot with Chow and Co in Southern Cal. Just one mans opinion

I hear ya' man. Just one more thing though.. Carroll had one of the very best recruiting classes last year and the year before last as well and this was coming off a weak-ass 6-6 season when we lost to Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl. Sad, I know. This guy is relentless and has a ton of energy which suits him perfectly for the college game. Stoops and Carroll will both continue to be at the top for years unless either of them bolts for the pros. cool_thu

I don't know Ryan sure did look like Adrian was not sure at the Army East vs West game. Adrian kinda looked like he was'nt so sure about his verbal and his comment about his mother wanting him to go to OU instead of USC being the main factor speaks volumes for Carrol in my opinion whatever he is doing it's working!!! The argument that USC sells USC is "moot" they have always had the postives you mentioned, but no offense USC fans they kinda sucked a few years back!!! Carrol's recruiting tatics have worked!!! don't get me wrong I agree with Ryan..."Did I just say I agree with Ryan" I must be catching a cold or something. Chow is a huge plus and a stud OC who will be leaving USC very soon to be a very good HC somewhere else..damm shame UCLA has a new coach would'nt that be fun!!!! Carrol and Chow turned USC around takes a good HC to get a good OC speaking on another subject BO P. is new DC at OU talk about p.o. kinda reminds me of another Bo who left OHIO STATE to go to Michigan maybe not the same level yet but BO P. is outstanding coach of couse another BUCKEYE GRAD and player I think Nebraska made a HUGE mistake.

Holy run-on sentence Batman! Subject count:

(1) Carrol and Chow turned USC around

(2) (it) takes a good HC to get a good OC

(3) BO P. is (the) new DC at OU

(4) talk about p.o. (not sure what that means)

(5) kinda reminds me of another Bo who left OHIO STATE to go to Michigan

(6) (Bo P. is) maybe not (on) the same level yet (as Bo S.)

(7) BO P. is (an) outstanding coach

(8) (Bo P.) is another BUCKEYE GRAD and player

(9) I think Nebraska made a HUGE mistake.

That's gotta win some sort of award! lol thumbs_u

Davis picks USC flew out last night and will enroll asap so he can join spring pratice. Bucksnut.com made it sound like it came down between Miami and USC. The Good news is Buckeyes pick up Kyle Mitchum today. Kyle is a much needed on the O-Line and was a great pick up.
