Chow leaving SC

Boo, hiss! It could happen, with Fisher being a Trojan an all. Let's face it - I'd call him the MVP (Most Valuable PERSON) of the last 3 years for the Trojans - not to take anything away from Pete and all their great players, but the dude is some kind of genius at the college level. It may be different in the NFL, but I guess we'll see.

If it happens, I'll really be bummed, but McNair and Volek should be much better next year...

I'm pretty much ready for Chow to go. Of course, I'd love for him to stay with the Trojans. But it's a distraction for him to be mentioned for every job opening. I disagree that Chow is the most valuable person for the Trojans the past three years. Carroll has a much bigger impact on all aspects of the team. Carroll has the biggest impact on recruiting and is tireless in his efforts to bring the best players into USC. Carroll's enthusiasm permeates the rest of the team. If Chow's personality spread through the team it would not be a positive. Carroll's defense allowed 13 points per game last year, third best in the nation. And his defensive adjustments routinely shut down teams in the second half. Though Chow calls the offensive plays, Carroll has more of an impact on the offensive philosophy than he is given credit for. While Chow's play calling and influence on the offense is an important part of USC's success over the past three years, it's not the biggest reason. And, don't forget, Carroll is the one who brought Chow in. If Chow leaves, I think many will be surprised that USC's offense does not suffer.

I disagree big time, Look at Chow history. He is the reason there offense is so good. He can break down a defense like no other.

Not so much in the short term because of Leinart's leadership, but in the long term, it hurts the chances of Booty, Sanchez and Hinds to become more fully developed. Now Matt will have an even bigger responsibility to help those guys along - luckily he should have the time this summer and fall, since he's due to graduate in May.

***, I think that makes 5 top aides leaving - can't blame those guys for grabbing the brass ring while they can though. But Carroll brought in a great staff before, so I'm hopeful he can do it again...talk about needing a deep bench....hope he has A LOT of friends to call on...
