WaterMan
Panthers: Sauerbrun expected to be released by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com Tuesday, April 5, 2005 News The Panthers have been trying to trade Todd Sauerbrun throughout the offseason. However, the team has not been able to find any willing takers since the veteran punter was identified as one of three current and former Panthers who obtained illegal steroids from a South Carolina doctor. As such, the team is expected to release Sauerbrun in the near future, according to the Gaston Gazette. Views It's no surprise that teams are no longer interested in Sauerbrun or that the Panthers are planning to release him. This is the same kicker who said he would refuse to fill in for an injured kicker last year unless the team returned some of the money he had been fined for being overweight. Jolly Rodgers
This guy is just a jerk. I hope every team passes on him, but I'm sure that wont be the case... Edited April 6, 2005 by Jolly Rodgers

MikesVikes
They're just trying to stay out of the super modified class.
WaterMan
I don't think the Panthers need him desperately anymore for field position since they have Delhomme at QB.
Swampnuts
This isn't a question of skill or ability. It's just the fact the guys been a chump here over the past few years. From the DUI, the $ for kicking last year, and now the Roid allegation. The fans are sick of it. Charlotte is one of the smaller NFL cities, and the locals like to try to relate to the players as members of the community. Some players embrace this and are loved locally. Ex: Jake Delhomme, John Kasay, Steve Beurelein, Kevin Greene, Sam Mills, Mark Fields... etc. Kasay is the perfect example. He could have been the new age Scott Norwood for shanking that kickoff out of bounds at the end of the Super Bowl, but he was immediately embraced by the local fans. I've listened Sauerbrun on the local sports radio shows and the guy is a total flake. Charlotte is a great place to play if you're a player, the local fan support is great. BUT.. once they turn their back on you, it's done.
