Lamont Jordan

I think this guy is going to be a fantasy stud next year..The formula is all laid out..Moss will stretch the field. The Raiders traditionally love to feed the big bruising back at the goalline and just on physical ability I love the way Jordan runs the ball. He is a Jerome Bettis type of back. If he stays healthy and Crockett doesnt steal the TDs this guy will be a stud and if you can get him a little late in your draft and pair him with a proven stud your backfield will be sweet.

I wouldn't say he's like Bettis in size, he has a nice combination, though...and could be used wisely in the passing game in dumpoffs with all of the open field Moss will create...

I doubt he'll ever see 8 in the box

Not the same size as Bettis but is a bruising hard runner..

Last year The Raiders went away from exclusively giving Crockett the ball at the goalline..Late in the year they went back to it a little bit when Whaetley went down..I think with Jordans power they will feed him at the goalline..He is an outstanding goalline back which is why until last year the Jets used to pull Cmart and bring him in..Crockett is the Xfactor though which I agree .If Crockett doesnt steal the TDs Jordan could be a monster

Oh boy, here we go, another Jordan debate! In the IDP forum mock draft (which is now a full blown league) I could not believe he was still there at 3.3! (12 team league w/IDP) It seems most people view him as a boom or bust RB. I think he can make the top ten, if things fall right. A study of Jordan's carries inside the five doesn't look very good, but I think there were reasons for that..... like the entire defense knew he was taking the ball up the gut. Others insist he got all his yardage in garbage time. That is only partly true. Something like 55% of his carries were in the 4th quarter. Still, when he was in it was no secret the Jets would run the ball and kill the clock, but he still did well.

Crockett is listed as the starting FB, but I don't see him stealing more than 3 or 4 TD's from Jordan. I think Jordan will about 280 carries and should be good for about 1250 to 1300 yards, 10 to 12 TD's.

Agreed. If Jordan can reach those very attainable numbers he will be a hell of a good 2nd RB. -who cares if Crocket steals an occasional TD, it happens to lots of backs, sometimes they're better off occasionaly avoiding goaline punishment to have a fuller, more productive season.

He may see a third down here and there. He didnt do much when wheatley was the main back so I dont see him Hurting Jordans #s too much..The Raiders gave Jordan a nice contract and hes going to be the main guy.

What part of Crockett's 2 TD's and 272 yards from 2004 is it that inspires the idea he will be used more than occasionally? And this from a season that the Raiders desperately needed someone to run the ball. Crockett had literally all that production in the final three games when there was, literally, no other runners.

In the six games that Wheatley had at least ten carries per game, Crockett only had 2 carries in those six weeks. Turner has never used specialists like Gruden did.

I think Jordan is going to surprise people this year. Crockett is the guy you want with one yard to go, but Jordan will get the ball the majority of the time and he should do a lot of damage with teams focusing on the passing attack.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Wheatley and Zereoue get axed. The Raiders would love to see what a healthy Fargas is capable of before they get rid of him.

Crockett sucks. Period. Fargas cant stay healthy and isnt an every down sort of back anyway. Wheatley and Zeroue are backups if they dont get cut first. This job is completely and totally Lamont Jordans. No rbbc at all in Oakland this year...

I think that either Wheatley or Zeroue are going to be june 1st casualties...

they just have too many RB's, Fargas should be the #3

Zeroue is already a UFA. Has been for some time now. Wheatley is gone too. Fargas is the back up RB, Crockett is the starting FB since Konrad decided to retire instead of becoming a Raider.

Hate to say it.... but I'm going to be attending several Raider games this year as there offense is going to be nothing short of spectacular. They added one of the NFLs top WRs to their 8th ranked passing attack and a legitimate RB who will have hugh :D lanes to run though as the opposing Ds respect the tandem of Moss/Porter. The Raiders offense will be able to hang with any team this year...the question will be if they can stop any team from scoring. Its been awhile since I went to a Raiders game. My dad is a Raiders fan and he took me to several games back when The Snake was playing.....I was on the same soccer team as Willie Brown's son and Willie occaisonally picked me up from home and drove me to practice....I was to young to really appreciate the situation.

I find it incredible to see that there haven't been any nay-sayers here. I agree that Jordan has played decently well while in the league, but for a guy who has never done anything, he's sure getting lots of props here. Nobody thinks he is too slow, or not explosive enough??? I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out where to project this guy. In the Fantasy advice forums, people are currently overwhelmingly telling me to get Deuce McCallister instead of Jordan-----but the majority here seems to think jordan will be around 1300/10. Those numbers are BETTER than McCallisters, and Jordan hasn't taken the beatings Deuce has. Am I missing something here>??

Yeah, he's a tough nut to crack IMO. Before they got Moss, I could see it going either way. I think he's probablly overhyped, but he sure is in a good spot to succeed. I keep going back to the fact that he never took over the starting job from a hurt Martin 2 and 3 years ago. That's just a big red stop sign to me. But he may produce just because of the offense he's in....

I have no idea where to project him right now, but I'm sure someone will take him before I'm ready to.

Even with Moss, the hole issue is if that O-line can improve mightily over last year. The Raiders picked up a couple of good rookies last year that should help, but they need to gel together. I was burned badly last year from Oakland RB's, so I'm a little skeptical about jumping in again this year. Of course if Jordan was sitting in rnd 3, I'd grab him in a heart beat.
